Default Where's the love for Chatain?!

What a great performance for a horse only making his fourth start and coming off a layoff facing some pretty decent horses. . . I've been waiting for this one to make another start for a while and he didn't dissapoint. . . He even set a new track record! This horse really reminds me of Discreet Cat for some reason. . . I anticipate that he will have a BIG year this year. . .

Two things- I know Chatain will now be pointed to the Donn Handicap where Invasor is also being pointed. To me, that distance seems a little long for Chatain. He's out of a Carson City mare so I'm not sure if he'll be able to get the distance. I think he'd be a great miler but i'm not too sure he's cut out for classic distances. It's still early in his career so only time will tell. . .

Also, does anyone have any idea of what figure he ran?

Just thought I'd give everyone a chance to praise the winner of the race. . .

Couldn't agree more Hockey, but I think Chatain has some serious injury issues, and while impressive, I doubt he will stay sound....

Yup, probably right. . . If they spot him well though and don't push him too much I think he'll be ok. . .

Impressive run by Chatain. I'd expect the Beyer to come in around 110. Interesting to note that Rexson's Rose ran a 1:08.98 for the first six furlongs while the Mr Prospector was won in 1:08.84. They may have spotted RR in the wrong race although it is likely that he would have had to duplicate the frontrunning performance in the Hal's Hope while off the pace in the Mr P which is far from a given. Nice run by the top three finishers to sit 2-4 off that pace and hang on to decisively beat the rest of the field. I'd think all of the top three have a legit shot at taking down a G1 this year. At least they all do if Sir Greeley can start switching his leads and get rid of this seconditis.

Chatain got a 104 in the Hal's Hope and Kelly's Landing a 102 in the Mr. Prospector.

Interesting. Does that fit the par charts for Gulfstream with a 1:33.87 only 2 points better than 1:08.84? I would have expected more like a 6 point difference on those raw times.
