Default Coach Knight -

What say you on this new deal?

Myself, it is not even news if anyone other then Coach Knight does it. Those are not kids he is coaching, they are men. Once again, the media blows it up into something it is not, an issue.

He said, if you read his lips, "Look at me" right after the "attention getter" - ain't no thing man. People need to find someone else to pick on.

I'm sick of hearing about it, but did he have to strike him like that. Couldn't he have just grabbed the kids chin and picked it up. If he would have just said "Look at me right now" in a loud voice, I guarantee the kid would have picked his head right up. I don't think it was wrong, but could have been handled a lot better.

Knights' been a bully for forever! The player is not his property, so he shouldn't touch him. The man is a maniac, and as a coach, you have to play His system on order to win. I don't think he makes his player better for the next level. I wish he'd retire and go kick some cows!

Timm,
This might amaze you, but I have to say it.
I like Bobby Knight.
I have since I saw him fly fishing with his buddy Jerry McGuinnis on the "Fishin' Hole". Sure, he's got some "anger management" issues. Most people that have a desire to win do.
You might be completely correct that he should retire. The times have changed. There are no longer Vince Lombardi's either.
This "incident" is one of many for Bobby K.
Times have changed. Drive to win hasn't.

DTS: Appreciate that he shares your enthusiam for fly-fishing BUT....flying into rages is alot more than anger management issues. This dude has always been out of control. He reminds me of the movie "The Great Santini" where winning is everything, no matter who you crush. You've seen his news conferences, I'm sure, he has always had a 'chip' on his shoulder and I think he's a detriment to Sports!

the people that think he is out of control should read about him more and watch tape of him in practice as well as read about Lou Holtz putting empty 55 gallon drums out on the field when he coached Notre Dame so players had a place to puke because of dehydration because he did not want to let them have a break

spare me this crap, Coach Knight is a man amoungst men - the media treats College players like they are kids, they are adults - bs from page 1 to the end.......

if it is that bad they can at any time move on.....................

Hell my Golf Coach in High School got in my face worse then that, get real and grow a sack........

Timm,
That link to the article says it politely.
Yes, he's out of control.
Yes, his actions are detrimental.
IMHO he should retire and go fly fishing, before he hurts someone, or has a heart attack.
Seems though that incidents like this, and everyone comes to expect them from Bobby, get "blown up" bigger than they need to be.
Bobby hasn't learned a thing. He's oblivious that the camera is even on him.
It's like watching a NASCAR race waiting for another wreck.

Fortunately,Curt, you're not entrusted with teaching young men! This guy couldn't carry Wooden's jock or Smiths,or Lute Olsens,or Coach K!

Funny thing is ya talk to men who have played for Coach Knight and see what ya get -

LMFAO at the folks who judge him on his reputation and not the facts. Very funny.............

Jay Bilas earlier today laid it out so well.......................

If you don't care what anyone thinks you could be a social misfit and if they wanted to become men...they could join the Armed Forces!

Dude spare me with Coach K being such a gerat guy ok?
Poll his former kids and poll Knights kids and see whose more popular with his players.
Coach K and his whining and crying and screaming on the sidelines makes me wanna ****ing vomit. I hate watching that team because of him and love to see em lose.
Its just a difference in how each is portrayed by the media, K is popular because he always sucked up to them. I'm sure his kids learn a lot about being a man by watching him whine and cry and scream like a little girl calling for a foul on every play from the time they tip the ball.
You didn't really just compare him with Wooden did you?

your disgust for Coach K is well documented, so leave him off the list, and being a gentleman and accessible to media is sucking up? Wooden's at the top! I did like Knight at one time, but enough is enough!

BFD!! The kid was disrespecting Coach Knight by not looking him in the eye. It's not like he bitch-slapped him.

Coach Knight gets results on the court AND in the classroom and his players, for the most part, stay out of trouble. What more do people want?

Wow. Poll Coach K's former players and poll Knights and find out who is more popular with his players. That u would think it's even close is funny. It's not. There is no comparison. Both are extremely respected by their former players but having been intimately involved with one of them, I know the answer to your question. Both however are very outstanding men. Parents send their kids to both still because they know that both of them will care for much more than what the kid does on the basketball court. They both teach their kids to be outstanding men and productive citizens in life. Coach K played for Coach Knight in college and gives his endorsement for Knight. That's enough for me.

Knight did nothing bad here. As has been mentioned, these are not little kids. They are men. Young men but still men. In an age when everyone is so concerned with trying to be politically correct, it's nice to see there are still guys out there like Knight. If I couldn't get my son to Duke, the next option for me would Texas Tech. I'd do it with no regrets.

I know this, if anyone touches me like that he would have gotten shoved straight over the scoring table, no matter what age

Pretty much how I feel about it. Most likely we would have gone back to his office after the game talked things out and I would have said the same things to the media that this kid did and probably even taken the blame upon myself for overreacting and shoving him to save the coaches job. People are making way too much out of the kid saying the right things to the media. You can see from his reaction sitting on the bench checking to see if his jaw is alright that he wasn't happy with it. I've defended Knight everytime he's done something stupid but this one is too stupid for even me to defend.

I think he is a good coach, the issue is that his surrounding cast, including himself are MASTER brainwashers. Their needs to be more coaches like Bruce Weber and Chris Lowery that state it how it is and be easy going and have a good time.....
