Unhappy Heartbreaking news.. Joe Silverio gone at 34

News comes from FB that Joe Silviero (RHT), beloved in a certain way here for years, has tragically died at 34.

He had been sick for awhile, particularly with kidney issues, but his passing still appears to have shocked. Hearts go out to his family and children.

Joe had become a very good handicapper/player and his progress can be traced here. I'd see him at Saratoga most summers and he was very kind. It's very hard to imagine he's gone.

This is genuinely sad news. He was fun here and truly had developed a strong opinion. Just awful.

If anyone hears of a gofundme, or something of the kind, as I believe he had children, I hope they post it here.

Truly heartbreaking news. I always enjoyed hearing his thoughts...on races...on handicapping strategy...on anything.

Being roughly the same age and having children as well, I echo Andy’s comment about sharing any sort of gofundme information if it exists. I can’t even imagine.

Joe will be missed very much.

JFC...that is truly horrible.

You guys are exactly right that he grew into a damn good handicapper, and he'll definitely be missed on here, though that is obviously nothing compared to the loss for his family.

Man this truly sucks. He was a unique guy and had made himself into one of the best on the board... Will miss his locks of the year du jour ...

Terrible news. Very sad for all involved. Was fun to read his thoughts on here as crazy as some opinions were. He obviously had a passion for racing which needs people of his age group.
Condolences to his family.

very sad to hear that.. I will certainly miss his posts and prayers go out to his family.

I echo what Andy said about the GoFundMe. I feel terrible for his children.

Very sad news. We tangled quite a bit over the years but there was no denying his passion and he loved his kids dearly. We spoke about them on occasion in between our pissing matches.

34 is just way too young....

I think we all know that he could be irritating and over the top with some of his predictions, but he also had an infectious enthusiasm for the game. I think we will all miss him greatly.

What an absolute sin. Joseph was a character that brought so much to this board. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it wasn't, but he was always entertaining. He loved the game so much and would take time to post his opinions and discuss the game with anyone. The only other thing he liked to talk about more than racing was his children, I know he loved them so much. My deepest condolences go out to his family. We lost a good one way before his time.

RIP Joseph.

This is sad and horrible news. Prayers to his children and family. I can’t help but think the Baffert horses might be getting a little extra push from now on.

RIP to our friend. Joe was such a character and I loved running into him at Saratoga for the entertainment if nothing else. His passion for the game was unmatched.

Life is too short, soak it all in.

Incredibly devastating news to hear.

We definitely had our spats in the past, but you’d be blind as a bat if you didn’t realize the growth he experienced as a handicapper/contributor. One of the sharper opinions on this board for a few years now. This hits like a punch to the gut for the DT faithful, I can’t even imagine how his family feels. My heart literally cracked in half when hearing about this about 10 mins ago. This hurts.

Rest In Peace Joe!

This is just awful news. I'm having a real hard time processing this right now. I knew he had some health issues but to be gone at 34 is just tragic. He was the heart and soul of this board for as long as I can remember. His passion for the game was unparalleled. It won't be the same without him.
