Default Venue for 1/19

Fairgrounds, with the Lecomte and 5 other stakes is the logical and I'm sure greatly anticipated place to go. 14 will go in the Lecomte so it should be the skull buster it generally is. PPs are already available. I don't imagine that there will be a flurry of objections to this choice?

Congrats on your win at Turf Paradise, Cal. Your choice of the Fairgrounds for what they call the Road to the Derby Kickoff makes perfect sense. I have a feeling that we will be playing a lot of tracks with Derby preps in the next few months.

My only suggestion would be to consider whether it would be feasible to lop a couple of races from either the beginning or end of the race card (or both). Some of us feel that 14 races is just a bit much for both our players and scorers, especially when many of the races have overflowing fields.

Sounds good to me. If we lop off the first 6, that would eliminate 2 14 horse fields in Race 4 and Race 6 and still leave 8 races to handicap or lop off the first 4 and leave 10 races to handicap(with 2 14 horse fields). What does
everyone suggest? Race 5 with 10 races starts at 3:23 Eastern and Race 7 with 8 races starts at 4:23 Eastern.

Or maybe eliminate the first 3 races and the last race and still have 10 races. This would of course retain all three races with 14 horses and maybe there are those among us that would prefer these big fields be retained? Probably a better chance for a big payoff, I think, with these 3 races. Let me know how you feel, if you have an opinion about this.

Hi Cal
4 to 13 works for me. Eliminating 3 maiden races with race 14 being Louisiana bred maidens sounds good
