Default Recommendations - Saratoga visit

Hi

Going to be going up to Saratoga the last week of August (Thursday through Sunday) with the wife. Plan to take her to the HoF and Old Friends as she was never there and of course the track I have been to the Spa before over the last 40 years with my friends so know where the bars are .... but was looking for some recommendations for casual places to eat and possibly any other suggestions that we may do. Thanks

Great info on places to check out on the July 18th DRF Players Podcast, skip to where they start talking about Saratoga. https://youtu.be/pXBjw9cG-jo

Saratoga has fantastic places to eat from the very casual to the more formal. To narrow it down a bit, and specific types of food you prefer?

Ok, so my favorite casual there is Mexican Connection. If you like Mexican food, this place is fantastic and is quite reasonable price wise as well. It is on Nelson just past the track headed towards the harness track. A darkhorse that I really love is Karavalli on Caroline St. Really good Indian food and generally not too full even on busy nights because people are afraid of Indian food. Many people seem to like Mama Mia's for Italian out in the shopping center on Balston Spa Rd. I do not like it that much personally as i would prefer to go to some higher end Italian places, but to be fair i should mention it. There's always a place like the Olde Bryan. Nothing spectacular but you will find something you like. I find that sort of dining boring, but that's me. Of the Broadway bar-ish places with food, I like Druthers the best. Stadium and Circus have just had way too poor service too many times for me to even consider going to them during the racing season. Also fairly casual that I have liked a lot are Boca Bistro on Broadway, which is primarily Spanish, Phila Fusion (on Phila of course), which is Asian fusion and closest you will get to decent Chinese in town and I was very surprised by Scallions on Lake, which is American fare that tends more vegetable but is not strictly a vegetarian place. If you decide to go to Hattie's do not order anything other that the fried chicken and corn on the cob (which are great) as the rest they have is pretty poor. Honestly I would skip it and just get some chicken at the track if you really want some.

All you do is walk down Broadway and there are tons of places....The Wine Bar has some good food with a menu that changes...love Saratoga and I WOULD RETIRE THERE IF I COULD.
