Purse Distribution - New York

I noticed over the weekend (while watching the stakes action from Belmont) that all the horses in the stakes races in NY received a portion of the purse. Is this the case in all races in NY? And if so, what is the percent distribution? Also, I love this idea and I think that everyone should get some sort of purse allocation for at least running in the race. Certainly would help the little guys and really not make that much of a difference to the big guys.

i think Finger Lakes pays the first 8 places. i think NYRA pays all that finish. it's a good idea, i mean, these horses don't just run for their health. they are pros and they all should be paid.

I agree. I think everyone that races should get paid. Thanks for the info.
