Default Remember Declan's Moon? Suave Jazz?

They will be part of the class for the 100 day challenge hosted by Dodon Farm in connection with the Retired Racehorse Training Project ("RRTP") founded by the brilliant event trainer, and friend of Maryland racing, Steuart L. Pittman, Jr.. http://www.retiredracehorsetraining....nts&Itemid=277 The RR

They will blog and update the progress on all chosen horses for the challenge.

From their facebook page today -- wish them luck in catching Declan's Moon!

First stop is the great Sagamore Farm, owned and revitalized by Kevin Plank of Underarmour fame. They have two, but we have to choose one! We will let you know who it is when we get him or her home tonight.

Second stop is Country Life / Merryland Stallion Show at 2pm, where we pick up Samantha Siegel's Declan's Moon, 2004 Two Year Old Male Eclipse Award winner and 2005 Kentucky Derby favorite until he was sidelined for knee surgery. He has been retired in a field at Merryland Farm for four years with other Malibu Moon stakes winners. Josh Pons suggested him for this event because he "moves like a dressage horse and would probably enjoy a new job." During our visit last week he wouldn't let us catch him but he trotted around and around us in a beautiful 20 meter trot circle that could easily earn him s
ome 9s and 10s. Wish us luck training a horse as proud and free as Declan's Moon!

Arrangements are also being made to collect Suave Jazz, a nine year old who ran 70 races and won $651,000. Mark Reid and Tony Dutrow of Walnut Green Farm had lost this great horse in the claimers and watched him drop down the levels. When they heard about this challenge they bought him back to enter him. Mr. Reid is one of the country's leading bloodstock agents and said he didn't want to enter just any horse. He wants to win. We can't wait to meet Suave Jazz!
