Fortunately, injuries are minor, the horses should be okay. I would love to get my hands on this person or person. People that deliberately injure police dogs and horses ... grrrrrrr
They found the horses turned out in the indoor arena area, lathered, shaking.

Chicago has gone to great lengths to tend to the needs of its service animals in the line of duty, so the city was understandably shocked by a break-in that targeted the Chicago police department's fleet of horses.
Twenty-seven of the 30 police horses who live the South Shore Cultural Center's stables were released from their stables sometime between 9:45 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Sunday, according to NBC Chicago. One horse, J.R., was apparently sprayed in the face with a fire extinguisher, and a second horse, Schott, had a laceration on his leg. Tissue paper was also strewn around the barn.
“They did not enter this to commit a theft; rather, they entered this to maliciously harm our horses,” Lt. Paul Bauer, commander of the department's mounted patrol unit, told CBS Chicago. "For what reason, I don’t know."
Bauer told the Chicago Tribune that the horses were shaken when officers discovered them, but are now "doing fine" after being given Monday off work. Schott's cut was treated, and J.R. was given an ointment and shot to ease the swelling in his eyes, which were described as "flushed" by an officer who tended to the animals. Bauer said the animals would be back on duty Tuesday.
No arrests have been made in connection with the break-in, but police are investigating.
