Default New 'special' launch for Breeders' Cup! A tradition like no other..

ZENYATTA CELEBRATION TO KICK OFF 2011 BREEDERS’ CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Popular Racing Star’s Connections to Welcome Fans at Kentucky Derby Museum on Championship Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2011) – Breeders’ Cup Ltd., along with Zenyatta owners Jerry and Ann Moss, announced today the launch of the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration, to be held Championship Friday, Nov. 4, at the Kentucky Derby Museum. With Zenyatta set to be the World Championships’ “Official Hostess,” the official all-day event will kick off the Breeders’ Cup racing festivities and welcome fans as they gather for Friday’s card. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breeders’ Cup Charities.

The Zenyatta Celebration starts at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 4 with the Zenyatta Reunion Luncheon. The hospitality retreat will be available from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m., with the after-party immediately following the last race of the day. Package options for the Celebration include:

• Luncheon Only (includes grandstand seating ticket) $95
• Hospitality Retreat Only $75
• Post-Race After Party Only $40
• All-Day Zenyatta Celebration (Luncheon, Grandstand Seating, Hospitality Retreat and After Party) $170

Scheduled to appear at the Zenyatta Fan Luncheon are the Mosses, trainers Dottie and John Shirreffs, jockey Mike Smith, and even Zenyatta will join via live video feed from her stable at Lane’s End Farm.

At the Zenyatta Reunion, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the racemare’s connections, participate in autograph signings, enjoy a Zenyatta memorabilia display and silent auction. During the races, the Celebration will offer a hospitality retreat complete with food, cash bar and a betting machine. After the races that day, fans will enjoy an after party where they can relive the most exciting moments of the race day. For more information, visit www.ZenyattaShop.com.

“We continue to be overwhelmed by the love of Zenyatta’s fans,” said Ann and Jerry Moss. “She is truly a horse of the people, and we want the Zenyatta Celebration to be an event for everyone, from longtime racing fans to the casual fans drawn in to the sport by our queen. We are so thrilled and honored that Breeders’ Cup has included Zenyatta in the official festivities, and we are determined to make the party as memorable and fun as the action on the track.”

“The Zenyatta Celebration is sure to become a Breeders’ Cup tradition,” said Carter Carnegie, senior vice president for Breeders’ Cup. “The celebration will be an amazing experience as we celebrate Zenyatta’s incredible legacy.”

Throughout her extraordinary racing career, Zenyatta thrilled racing fans with jaw-dropping victories and heart-pounding finishes. However, it was her memorable Breeders' Cup performances, including her victories in the 2008 Ladies’ Classic, the 2009 Classic and her incredible finish at Churchill Downs in the 2010 Classic, that sealed her stardom and ignited a fan frenzy that has transcended the sport and endeared this stunning mare to millions.

When I read "a tradition like no other..." I expected Jim Nantz talking about the Masters.

For $20 any who are not interested in the Zenyatta party may attend the Volponi "dessert" party at the Churchill backstretch!

This is a great thing for the people who would want to do it... I mean it really is nice.

I always feel like I have to say this... I am definately a fan, I don't think I've ever gone overboard though (with her. Maybe with one or two others but hey that's just who I am. Accept it or go **** yourself. Respectfully, of course! ).

These threads always turn into little contests of wit and sarcasm and that's cool but remember kids... fans either become - or are - bettors. The couple of threads every year about generating new anything, bringing new people to the sport, wwhhhaaahhh-it's-dying-what-do-we-do-oh-lookie-here's-an-email-askng-for-suggestions etc...you've got to be able to accept this kinda thing cause it's just the way it is.

There are different kinds of fans and players and I don't know about any of you but I have no problem when anyone goes out of their way to include the loyal, lifelong types who DO play believe it or not.

Like I said I would not wish to attend this BUT a couple of my closest friends are probably hearing about this right now and planning on going and why not...

Good for them.

I'm sure they'll have a ball.

If it had been Hendrix I'd have gone in a heartbeat.

They couldn't let the focus at the Breeder's Cup be on another filly (Grace).

This is the 4th though...

Isn't there a good chance the 5th will be her day?

I have secret video of Bernardini mating with Zenyatta.

I'm going to have a Z porn launch on the same day.

Winstar should fire back with a Tiznow Celebration.

Afterall, he actually won the Classic twice.

I have to disagree with the highlighted part. The "fans" that would most likely be interested in this are the same people talking to her on facebook as if she is really responding and checking her blog everyday to see if there is an exciting update like she made a big sh.it or something. These aren't bettors and never will be. Not that they have to be, but betting $2 a year in the Derby on the horsey with the bestest name doesn't make you a bettor.

She was and continues to be an incredible PR machine though. I just wish these efforts actually did something that helps the sport grow where it needs to.

Besides Freddy and Stonegossard, who really wants Jerry Moss's autograph anyway?

Hossy you're right in that I shouldn't have announced that they all become playahs. I really just meant the people I know or have met.

It's interesting because they're the ones who actually go to the track while I know a lot of people just wager online for the most part - myself included.

Zenyatta came along at the single perfect time in terms of the PR machine thing, as you kinda pointed out.

These people do understand the value of it and have done a fantastic job keeping their fans interested.

This whole event is, apparently, for charity so at least there's that.

I hate bullies and always have and sometimes the fans get bullied on racing boards.

We all have people we remember from differnt boards and different times...

On the old TT forum there was a guy who went by Royal Blue (I won't say it...) and while he was fanatical and annoying and silly and a lot of other things that one could just call tiresome he did have enthusiasm.

Now even the most hardened posters there... no one tried to crush that.

Know what I'm saying?

Let's not round up and kill the Zenyatta crowd.

They're not hurting anyone and they're not too vocal these days.

I mean right?

I do know what you are saying, but I also think that her crowd was so over the top (not every fan, but there were a lot) and continues to be that it's okay to laugh at it.

I think even the prettiest horsey person in the world can see why some might think it is funny (or weird or whatever) to talk to horses online as if they are responding back. Instead of taking offense to it (not saying you, just in general) maybe if they had a little sense of humor about themselves and what they were doing there wouldn't be the resentment.
