LEXINGTON, Ky. (September 22, 2011) - The Breeders' Cup announced today the wagering menu and post times for the 28th Breeders' Cup World Championships, to be held on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. This year's wagering menu on the 15 Breeders' Cup races features an abundance of wagering opportunities including two all Breeders' Cup Ultra Pick Sixes, 10-cent Superfectas, 50-cent Pick 4’s, rolling Pick 3's, a Ladies' Classic - Breeders' Cup Classic daily double and a new Pick 5 wager.

There will be a total of 10 races (six Breeders' Cup races) on the Championship Friday program and 12 races on Championship Saturday (9 Breeders' Cup races). Championship Friday begins at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time with four Breeders’ Cup undercard races. The tentative order of Breeders’ Cup races is as follows: The first Championships race on the program is scheduled to be the $500,000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint (4:10 p.m.), followed by the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (4:50 p.m.); $1 million Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (5:30 p.m.); $2 million Breeders' Cup Grey Goose Juvenile Fillies (6:10 p.m.); $2 million Breeders’ Cup Emirates Airline Filly & Mare Turf (6:50 p.m.) and concluding with the $2 million Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic (7:30 p.m.). There will be an Ultra Pick Six on the six Friday Breeders’ Cup races with a guaranteed gross pool of $750,000.

On Championship Saturday, first post time is 12:05 p.m. Eastern Time starting with an allowance race and a Churchill Downs stakes race. The tentative order Breeders’ Cup races is as follows: The first Championships race on Saturday is scheduled to be the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Marathon (1:20 p.m.); $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (2:02 p.m.); $1.5 million Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Sprint (2:37 p.m.); $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (3:21 p.m.); $2 million Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile (4:01 p.m.); $2 million TVG Breeders' Cup Mile (4:45 p.m.); $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (5:25 p.m.); $3 million Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Turf (6:07 p.m.) and the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (7:00 p.m.). An additional stakes race will be the twelfth race at 7:40 p.m. There will be an Ultra Pick Six with a guaranteed gross pool of $2 million on the Saturday program beginning with the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and concluding with the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Official race order for both days of the World Championships will be finalized on Wednesday, October 26. The remainder of each day’s card will be set after entries and post-positions are drawn on Monday, October 31.

"This year’s Championships promise to give every fan an opportunity to cash a big bet. From the ten cent superfectas, to fifty-cent trifectas, Pick 3s, Pick 4s and the new Pick 5, players can be confident they will receive the highest betting value in all of racing,” said Ken Kirchner, President of FalKirk International and the manager of the Breeders' Cup wagering and simulcasting operations for the last 15 years. “The Breeders’ Cup continues to defy the industry trends, with total worldwide wagering increasing by 13% last year to over $173 million.”

Each Breeders' Cup World Championships race will feature a maximum of 14 horses and wagering interests. In addition to the standard Win, Place and Show betting, there will be Exacta and Trifecta wagering on every race and rolling Pick 3 wagers beginning with the first race and continuing through all races on both Championship Friday and Championship Saturday. Among the featured wagers this year are:

• A new Breeders’ Cup Pick 5 with a fifty-cent minimum bet value. The wager will be offered on the first five races each day and will give players a chance to cash a large bet for a small investment. The wager is a mandatory payout each day.

• Friday's Ultra Pick 6 will have a guaranteed gross pool of $750,000 and Saturday's Ultra Pick 6 will feature a $2 million guaranteed gross pool. If no one hits the Friday Ultra Pick 6, the pool will carry over into Saturday's Ultra Pick 6. The wager is a mandatory payout at the end of the Saturday program. In 2010, an $817,000 carryover into Saturday produced an Ultra Pick 6 pool of over $6 million. There were five winning 6 of 6 tickets worth $800,160.

• Breeders’ Cup continues to offer some of racing’s highest payouts. In 2010, the Pick 6 paid $800,160; Friday’s Pick 6 paid $54,509 for 5 of 6; Friday’s Pick 4 paid $17,064 for a fifty-cent bet; and a dozen other bets paid more than $5,000.

• A Daily Double wager linking the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic on Friday to the Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday will again be offered. Last years “Classic Double” of Ladies’ Classic winner Unrivaled Belle and Classic winner Blame paid $89.

• Other Wagering Highlights this year are:

The Pick 4, with a 50-cent minimum, continues to be a fan favorite bet at the Breeders' Cup. There will be three guaranteed Pick 4 pools. Friday's all Championships Pick 4 (races 7-10) will have a guaranteed pool of $750,000. On Saturday, there will be two guaranteed Pick 4s. The early all Championships Pick 4 (races 4-7) will have a $1 million guaranteed gross pool and the late all Championships Pick 4 (races 8-11) will have a $1.5 million gross pool.

• A Super High Five wager on both the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic and the Breeders' Cup Classic will be offered. Bettors are required to select the first five finishing places on one ticket. If no one hits the Super High Five on Friday the pool will carry over to Saturday's Super High Five on the Classic. The wager is a mandatory payout after the Classic.

Personally for me, this is going to be a very disappointing BC wagering wise. I feel like the game is tough enough as it is, now with the lasix ban for 2 year olds makes it borderline impossible. I could be wrong, but I feel like the races are hard enough to handicap without worring which horse is suddenly going to bleed and absolutely stop.

There is only one pick 3 and pick 4 on the BC portion of the card that doesn't include a juvy race. I'll play those and sit back and watch the rest.

Thank you Alan.

I'm glad to hear that, because I really enjoy those 2 days very much.

If I'm not mistaken the trifectas are 50 cents again, right?

Yes.

I must say I do not understand why there is a stake race after the BC Classic Saturday. This isn't California and i'll be a 7:40 Eastern post. Is the ALW race (R1) that important?

Perhaps in the interests of stretching the flow of traffic out of Churchill. Given they now have lights, how does it hurt, and it may ease the congestion leaving the parking lots.

It was pretty bad last year if you didn't know the back ways or where to park to get out fast. Churchill does a great job hosting big events- they probably reacted to the situation and tried to improve it.

Gotta say this is the first time I've ever heard of someone complaining about TOO MUCH good racing. (I'll probably be broke by that race though!)
