![]() Rain is likely to spoil what should have been a terrific final Saturday of the Saratoga meet.. The Woodward will run here today for the first time, and mud seems certain, as does "off the turf" racing. Simple numerical selections are below, though I'm disappointed as can be with the way the weekend is turning out.
Friday may have been the final "fast and firm" race day of the meet, and if it was, it closed out nicely. The highlight was offering the top 4 finishers in the featured With Anticipation and the $524 trifecta ($115 exacta) in the box. Earlier, the 1st ($93.00), 2nd ($37.80) and 5th ($36.80) race tris were the top 3 tabs in each event. Keep hoping for the best as Saratoga winds down... At the least, Monday's Labor Day finale looks like it will be clear of precip... SELECTIONS -- Saratoga, Saturday, September 2, 2006 With "mud" in mind.. Pick Six Carryover available.. I don't like #2 COMMENTATOR here, even though he has the best power #. I don't see this as his best distance, ance the make-up of this field plays against him. Instead I have to like #8 POMEROY, who has always been good to me, and #11 WAR FRONT who was very impressive last out and has a big off-track win here. I like #5 GREELEY'S GALAXY as the bombshell upsetter, and will play him to win. A saver exacta box of 1-1-5-7-8-11 9th Another tough call. #3 SUAVE was very game last time, has a win here prior plus this should be his ideal distance.Plus, Borel is here for a few other mounts today, and don't be surprised if he brings home a bomb. #6 FLOWER ALLEY should be expected to run much better and is 2 of 3 here. #1 WILD DESERT should finsh just behind one of the above. Del Mar 4th I have to take the hopefully good price with BOB AND JOHN to win. Race 8 I hope #5 AMORAMA gets a better trip this time. If so, she should be tough.#11 MEA DOMINA should give it a run on the bill. 1A LOCK AND KEY finished very well last time and could bring up the rear of the gimmicks. |

4 for 4 at 7F, including a 121 beyer last summer at Belmont. Commentator to me, is a lock. I like Pomeroy and War Front underneath. That being said, I'm just taking a small pick 4 today. Singling Commentator, and hoping to pick up some prices later on. 8) 2 9) 1,3,5 (Like Wild Desert to win) 10) ALL 11) 2,7 1x3x6x2 = $36 pick 4 Good luck. |

![]() So much for the Common Tater.
Last as odds-on in a group much different than he had seen before. 4 of 4 at the distance vs.much lesser. I nailed this one pretty good with the win and exacta, and threw in the runner-up in the west coast feature to keep me just under break-even. 2 of 3 with head-to-heads yesterday, with my main play being ANORAMA +101 vs. POLYFIRST. I win a photo for last place. Thank goodness for football and G Tech. Boring day today. |
