Smile A Little Bit of Tin Cup

I just got back after a great weekend of golf.

After dropping my niece off at Auburn U, I had the opportunity to play golf at the Grand National in Opelika, AL. We played both the Lake and the Links courses. Both are very scenic and a challenge on almost every hole.

I'm admittedly not much of a golfer anymore (some back issues), but on the signature 18th hole of the Links course - I took my chance. The approach to the last green is well protected on the left hand side and in front of the green by a large water hazard that must be carried for any scoring chance at all.

After leaving my drive down the middle of the fairway some 205 yards from the edge of the green, I did not hesitate to reach for my driver. After a "Tin Cup-type" miracle shot that I will never forget, I was left with a tricky downhill 22-foot birdie putt. After just missing by 3 inches, I eagerly tapped in for my par.

It is amazing that 1 good golf shot can make the round and the weekend!!! I'd recommend Grand National (Robert Trent Jones design) as a must golf play if you're ever in the vicinity.
