Great read. It matches what I just read in, "Game Change", although in much greater detail.

I recall during the election snippets of that came out into the public - one reason I started backing off on McCain.

I thought a book by Paulson might be dull, I"ll have to read it, I guess

Good stuff

McCain's not the only empty suit con in D.C.

Good to see BO finally starting to put some pressure on the "Party of No (Plan)"…

Rachel Maddow had a deal on today where she listed GOP Senator and Congressman, one after the other, who voted no to the stimulus package, calling it terrible for America - who then took credit in their districts for the stimulus funds they received, saying how many jobs it would produce, how wonderful the stimulus was, etc.

I have no respect at all left for the GOP. In the world of political spin, putting their own self-interest above country, they have set the all-time new low.

Quote:
Senate Republicans made a persuasive case for abolishing or reforming the filibuster on Tuesday night when they blocked a routine nomination to the National Labor Relations Board that had been held up since April.

The GOP was joined by Democrats Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas in defeating President Obama's nominee, Craig Becker, by a vote of 52-33. The 52 votes were in favor of Becker, while the 33 were in opposition. In today's Senate, that's enough to block a nominee.

"I'm in my thirty-sixth year. I've never seen anything like it," said Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy (D-Vt.), noting that no previous Republican Senate leader would have allowed his party to filibuster such a routine nomination.

I hope they can sleep at night knowing that you don't respect them.

It's not the GOP that's the problem. The Dems have a huge majority in the House and the Senate. And you can't get anything done. Keep blaming the GOP for everything, because at the rate your going that majority will get smaller and smaller.

and you bought into this spin from Maddcow?

Nobody voted against the stimulus and then said the stimulus was wonderful.

What happened is that stimulus money was thrown at many many existing projects, projects that GOP members had actually previously supported, BEFORE STIMULUS.

Now the administration is trying to take credit for all the jobs and admonish anyone for taking credit for it, just because they piled on the stimulus cash.

Its disingenuous and a phony outrage. Only simpletons fall for this stuff.

It's not spin when it's fact, is it?

I guess that puts you right there in the simpleton category, as a good portion of what you typed, above, isn't true. But nice of you to believe the spin
