His suck up effort (I applaud Mike Smith if his actual intention was to ride conservatively and garner another placing--he couldn't have possibly figured on the win end) to reel in Baffert's B-squad only encourages his connections for continuing this naive path. Its a shame really, cuz his trainer comes from a good racetrack background (Gosden, Gregson) but is risking blowing a rare opportunity with a good horse by mismanaging that will only end in further defeat or worse yet, the horse being transfered to another barn.
