Default Tote Boards

Why can't the totes be constantly updated ala Wall Street stock quotes, rather then having to wait 20 or 30 seconds for an update? Is it an additional investment is computer hardware? Seems that the tracks could do this with some software tweaking.

Dosent have something to do with the offtrack wagering being put into the pools at inerval instead of instantly? I remember a few years ago CD and Im sure other tracks closed the betting maybe 1 or 2 min before the race went off because of the K derby pk 6 huge winner paid to a dakota otb patron that had a few of the tote system personel and used the way otbs submithere wagers to the home track.LOTTA COMPLAINING FROM BETTORS ABOUT BEING SHUTOUT AT THE WINDOWSAND AFTER A FEW MONTHS THEY STARTED KEEPING THE BETTING OPEN TILL THE START OF THE RACE.We were reassured the problem was fixed but we keep seeing little glitches that make you wonder.
