Default Crist DVD

Steve, I heard your intro on Steve Crist's new DVD. Can't wait. I was checking DRF this morning...doesn't look like it's listed even for pre-order yet.

Will be listening for the details next week.

Joe

P.S. Go Phillies!

Release date is Saturday I believe... I'm awaiting details too. Crist should be on for another extended Q and A next week...

Ordered this morning with no problems. Can't wait to hear Steve talk more about the multirace wagers. It looks like almost all of the DVD will be dedicated to them as opposed to intrarace wagers. I'm very curious to hear his discussions about bankroll requirements given the volatility of multirace wagers.

The way I read the description is that he expands on his analysis of multirace wagering, which accounts for about 85% of my play. I'll check back in once it arrives.

Here are the specifics about the DVD:

NEW YORK, NY, Oct. 22, 2009 – Following the tremendous success of Daily Racing Form Publisher Steven Crist’s 2006 book Exotic Betting, DRF today announced the release of a new instructional DVD titled “Exotic Tickets” that will go on sale beginning Thursday, October 22. Exotic Tickets ($39.95) can be ordered directly through DRF by calling 1-800-306-FORM (3676) or online at www.drf.com.

A 76-minute tutorial based on the book and narrated by Crist, Exotic Tickets explores the fastest-growing segment of the pari-mutuel market, filled with indispensable tips and tactics for the modern horseplayer. Dubbed “The King of the Pick Six,” Crist lays out the new landscape of exotic multirace bets, explains the math behind overlay and carryover opportunities, and then provides winning examples from his personal betting experience, including the two winning $54,000 Pick-6 tickets he was responsible for in the 2008 Breeders’ Cup – one for himself and one for customers at Capital OTB in Albany, New York who shared in the proceeds of a duplicate of his ticket..

Crist examines a variety of exotic-betting concepts, including which bets play to your personal strength and weaknesses, the pros and cons of intrarace vs. multirace bets, bankroll requirements and why big-event days present special opportunities. He also showcases the new TicketMaker tool available at DRF.com, similarly derived from his personal wagering methodology.

Exotic Tickets is laid out in five informative chapters:

Chapter 1: Exotic Tickets with Steven Crist

* Rise of the Exotics
* New Challenges and Choices
* Possible Outcomes

Chapter 2: The ABC’s of Multiple Tickets

* Mains & Backups
* The A, B, C, and X Method
* 2008 Breeders’ Cup Pick 6
* 2008 Breeders’ Cup Pick 6 with TicketMaker ™

Chapter 3: Pick 6 Carryovers

* How a Carryover Works
* Double Carryovers

Chapter 4: Takeout and Exotic Wagers

* Parlays versus Doubles
* Pick 3’s and Pick 4’s

Chapter 5: Playing the Pick 4

* Aqueduct Pick 4
* Keeneland Pick 4
* Keeneland Pick 4 with TicketMaker ™

ABOUT STEVEN CRIST:
Steven Crist has been playing the races and writing about them since a chance trip to Wonderland Greyhound Park in 1976 put a quick end to studying 18th-century English literature at Harvard. He was the horse-racing columnist for The New York Times from 1981 through 1990; founding editor-in-chief of The Racing Times in 1991-92; a New York racetrack executive from 1994 to 1997; and in 1998 assembled an investment group that purchased Daily Racing Form, where he served as the chief executive until 2002 and remains as the chairman and publisher. In addition to "Exotic Betting," Crist is the author of "Offtrack," "The Horse Traders," and the autobiographical "Betting on Myself: Adventures of a Horseplayer and Publisher."

Guys, I received my DVD yesterday and watched it immediately. You will like it. Great content, excellent production value on the figures and stills that Steve Crist uses to teach us about construction of Exotic Tickets.

I will be re-viewing this DVD before Breeders' Cup.

I'm so glad that Steve Crist took over at DRF some years back. The stuff they are putting out: the Form, their books, and now this DVD...it's great.

Byk, I wonder why he made the DVD so short in time length.
I think it would have been a good idea to talk about Dime Super's and how to best structure those bets.
