I've given up on Encaustic, so he'll probably win this one.

...and Smooth Air? This is only a G3

kidding, just kidding,

Since Lone Star was mentioned.
Some interesting M/L odds on a Claiming race...

1 Holy Hazaam (TX) 1/2
2 Shirley's Brittney (KY) 6/1
3 Bye Bye Trey (TX) 30/1
4 Magic Misty (TX) 15/1
5 Dusky Blue (TX) 10/1
6 Charley B Gold (TX) 1/2
7 Bien Cien (TX) 10/1
8 Sesmartygo (TX) 8/1

M/L line odds rarely add up properly.
Yes indeed. A true two horse race.
Its been a while since I have actually
witnessed one.

I now have faith in the system.
This was per Equibase, does not show coupled entries.
But does show owners and trainers so I should have caught it.

Smooth Air scratched from Texas Mile
By Mary Rampellini

Smooth Air, the probable favorite for the Grade 3, $300,000 Texas Mile at Lone Star Park on Saturday, has been scratched from the race after a bout with colic on Thursday night, said his trainer, Bennie Stutts Jr. The scratch was made Friday. Smooth Air won the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap in his last start March 14, and was planning to use the Texas Mile as a springboard to the Grade 1, $600,000 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park. But now, the Met Mile is out, too, said Stutts.

"We'll scratch that - that would be asking too much," he said. "At this stage, where he'll run next, that's undecided."

Smooth Air, who flew to Lone Star on Tuesday from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., took ill Thursday night and was taken to an equine clinic on the grounds at Lone Star. "I'm a little sad," Stutts said Friday. "On the bright side, my horse is okay. Last night, he got very sick. He had the colic. We didn't sleep much last night."

Smooth Air, who did not need surgery, was treated and kept under observation at the clinic. He was expected to be released Friday afternoon, said Stutts. "The horse is bright, the horse is much better," said Stutts. "But they'll keep him all day, and if he's okay, we'll take him back to his stall."

Stutts said Smooth Air is scheduled to fly back to his Calder Race Course base on Tuesday.
