1. Pacific Mission-South Wabash Street (they also provide cheap lodging and after-dinner speakers)

2. Lawson YMCA-West Chicago Avenue (cheap lodging and communal showers)

3. Nation of Islam Cafeteria-East 72nd Street ( a short stroll from the Loop through a quaint urban neighborhood. Suit and bow-tie required.)

Outside of Arlington?

Nevermind, I'm not helpful.

Unless you're just looking for bars to hang out at....then I'm useful.

C'mon, you gotta admit that all the museums in Chicago are awesome - didn't you spend every year of grade school going to the Museum of Science and Industry and walking through the beating heart?

True, indeed. But be sure to save time to experience a savory meal at the first suggested establishment, as well. Rumors abound in all the bankrupt newspapers here in town that the hot new chef at the Pacific is back and is one of the reasons for the long lines out the door. The spring menus feature seasonal fare, as well as the old favorites. The roasted roadkill Venison, the lukewarm chicken broth, the kettle drum-cooked city pidgeon (tri-colored only) are staples. Unfortunately, you've just missed a friday night Lenten special, the all-you-can-eat Alewife fish and chips dinner. Liquor is BYOB, of course. The decor is, well, minimalist. Dress is casual/slept in/none at all. There is outdoor dining, seating is curbside. The facilities are also outside and curbside. No reservations needed. The meals are the least expensive in town(free actually) and a great value for a grand lad traveling from Wisconsin.
