Default Darren Tyquin

I am sad to share that Darren Tyquin, one of the most well known track announcers and racing media profiles in New Zealand, died in an automobile accident during the night. Darren was a super-nice individual, a wonderful race caller and a true asset to worldwide horse racing. He was just 41-years-old.

Here is a story: http://www.virtualformguide.com/cgi-...0319tyquin.txt

For those who did not know him, his website is www.trackannouncer.com

Darren was fortunate enough to announce a race in which a horse he owned himself won at big odds... 31-1 to be exact. What a thrill! He will be missed.

I listened to some of his calls on the site you linked - good racecaller. That's a shame, to be lost so young.

That is a shame. I had a few i-conversations with Darren. Nice guy, good racecaller.

Former Waikato racing commentator Darren Tyquin, 41, died in a car crash in Christchurch early this morning.

The crash happened off SH1, about 12.45am, after the car he was in failed to take a bend. Mr Tyquin died at the scene.

A passenger in the car was taken to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries.

Mr Tyquin was a popular race caller in the Waikato before moving south to take over the duties of Reon Murtha when he retired.
