![]() Glorified bull ring of a track. They pick a dead time of the year and Boyd Gaming throws a ton of coin at a few races. Run first or second and you punch a ticket for the first Saturday......F'in joke.

![]() I would also have loved to have been there last night...it is a fun place, as long as you dont start feeding the slots.
But the 2 hr drive does get kinda old. |

(1) American Graded Stakes Committee uses same factors to evaluate Delta Jackpot and Delta Princess that is employs to evaluate each potential graded race. (2) I do not know of any instance where AGSC has any input into amount of and/or distribution of purse monies at any track. (3) Kentucky Derby uses graded earnings. Is this source of your anger? (4) I applaud Boyd Gaming especially Bill Boyd who puts money into purses. Is your "beef" with NYRA, Magna, CDI, or other tracks that do not offer such purses? If you wanna "beef", why didn't AGSC award Grade 1 status to Arkansas Derby? Now, that is genuine travesty!

![]() Dylbert - the answer to your question should be fairly obvious, but you have an affinity for the place and thus my opinion (and many others) regarding this particular race always triggers a nerve. I've got no problem with the G3 status, my beef is with the casino company associated with it throwing 750,000.00 at. It unfairly squews the way entries qualify for the Derby. That's a fact.

Nice little track to cash, if you can read a racing form. |

Here is great example. Connections of West Side Bernie had choice between staying home and running in last week's Remsen at Aqueduct. It is Grade 2 and has $200,000 purse. Or coming to Delta Downs two weeks ago and training for Delta Jackpot. Second place last night earned West Side Bernie $150,000, or $30,000 more than if they'd stayed home and won last weekend. Bigger question is, "how much longer will New York squander its VLT opportunity?" These potential purse monies have been "exported" to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delware, and, coming soon, Maryland through slot bettors. Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas have all taken monies from Texas in this same manner. Rudy, write Kentucky Derby folks a letter and voice your displeasure. Boyd Gaming is merely promoting its product and showcasing thoroughbred racing by conducting Delta Jackpot, Delta Princess, and supporting stakes on first Friday in December each year.
