Default Biacone - Training

I was at Turfway this morning and I got see some of Biacone's horses train. I guess this is how they train in France. But he sends out 6 at a time. They leave his barn in a straight line, walk onto the track in a straight line and then gallop in a straight line. Then the leader will work, then the next etc etc. Then they get into another line and they walk back to the barn. Almost all his exercise riders are female and speak French. But man, his horses look so awesome. It was pretty neat to see how he trains his horses.

Did those classy horses act like Turfway was too trashy for them?

He trains the same way up here except he has male exercise riders as well. One of his guys up here goes out with no stirrups!!!!!! You watch the guy and just can't believe it. All this while Biancone patrols the grounds from his golf cart always smoking and talking on the cell phone. Hes fun to watch!!

I saw him petting one of his horses one morning with a cigarette in his mouth. That poor horse probably died of all that second hand smoke and or his body odor. He sweats like a pig. Hes a complete slob. Like Belushi in Animal House, LOL!

My friend up here is pretty funny, he has proposed a cage match between Biancone and Tommy Voss in a smokeoff. Guy who smokes the most cigarettes wins. We made the line a pick'em.

Mike, I have seen Biancone on over a hundred different occasions between the mornings, afternoons and at night in town. Not once have I ever seen him without a cigarette in his mouth. And I would say 75% of the time, he is sweating like an animal. Granted it is hot up here but you would think the guy just went 5 sets against Nadal.

I met Biancone during morning works BC week at LS. For some reason I had the impression that he was probably an a$$. As usual, I was wrong, he was quite personable.

Yes he is. A personable french slob. The guy looks like he just rolled out of bed. No worries for Brad Pitt or George Clooney.
If he didnt smoke so much near his horses, his winning Percentage would be much better and Lion Heart would have won the Derby.

Does anyone know what the exact story was regarding Biancone's training career in France? Did he get into a lot of trouble over there? That's what I was told. I don't know the details but I heard he got into a lot of trouble there for some positives and was basically run out of town. As I said, I don't know any details. I don't know if he lost his license or if he got a long suspension or what the deal was. I just heard that he got in a lot of trouble and left the country.

He's a good trainer but I'm not sure how good his reputation is.

You know what, I can't be 100% positive and I don't have any links or sources. But in my understanding he was banned from racing in France for life. I'm not too sure what for, but I guess you can draw your own conclusions. I could have completely inaccurate information here, because I heard it from sort of a blowhard. So maybe Biancone just left for greener pastures. I'm not sure why he would though, he was training for the Wildenstein family.

He went to Hong Kong and did pretty good and then a huge majority of his horses got positives for something illegal (they are tough over there)

I heard that he said it was a setup and one of the officials had a relative he wanted to move in as a trainer (the trainers are restricted to around 25 every year) they HKJC banished Biancone and of course the relative moved right into his barn. Also heard that they didn't like him because he married someone from Hong Kong or something along those lines.

here is a link for the HK stuff....http://www.dispatch.co.za/1999/09/07/sport/HORSE.HTM

and another....http://espn.go.com/horse/columns/misc/1424693.html

The stuff in Europe, who knows?? He did marry a woman who was Miss Hong Kong though.

Notice how many times I said "I heard" in the previous post.....

It is all mostly hearsay except for the links, please don't attack me for posting negative stuff about Biancone. He is my favorite trainer and I am glad he is in the U.S.

I'm sure he was totally innocent. His 26 horses that tested positive in 1996 was a fluke. The ones in 1999 were a set-up. He was totally clean. LOL.
