Question Music Note....if you were her connections, would you?

Race in the Alabama or wait for "easy pickings" in the Travers???

Anyway you look at it, she'll be going "two turns" for the first time in either race. I think.....go for the gusto and race in the Travers.
Proud Spell & Mushka will be tougher than Da 'Tara, Macho Again or Pyro and you get a weight break. Any thoughts..........

What, if anything, would the negative reprocussions be by racing in the Travers?

Really?

I'm all for her going in the Travers, but it's not an easier race than the Alabama.

I would challenge BB to a match race with zero going to charity

As for Mushka....not a great return, but neither was BB's last race.....you can have him

Personally I think Proud Spell's on the decline. . . and to even mention Mushka in the discussion is ridiculous.

Who's better than her in the Travers?

A bunch of them Beyer-wise. . . so you're not going to defend the Mushka thing?

Than who? Proud Spell? I don't know that there's anyone definitively, but there are a few who are at least as good. And three-fourths of the field is better than Mushka. Plus, for a one-run horse like Music Note, I'd rather face five horses with one good one than eleven horses with a handful of good ones. I thought pretty much everyone agreed that the Alabama was the easier race..

Yeah, I know her return race wasn't much....but she was good last Fall.
Still, Music Note has nothing to prove vs. her own....now the boys, that's another story.
Beyer-wise or not....the Travers will be a good betting race and that's about it!

Well, it may be easier.....but, the Travers would be BIGGER against a weak group of three year old colts, thats all.

If she's a one run horse, her run is very, very good. That being said, I agree. My arguments are made in the other post - no need to rehash them here. I want her to become 3 year old filly champion and winning the Alabama would help. She's eventually going to have to face Zenyatta and Ginger Punch. That will be quite a chore and if Music Note runs well against them, it will be an accomplishment.

Reasons to run her in the Alabama:

To improve her value in the sales ring - irrelevant since they'll never sell her.

To improve her offspring value in the sales ring - also irrelevant since they won't sell them either.

To make history by being yet another 3yo filly to win the Alabama - we only have a 100+ of those.

Reasons to run her in the Travers:

Whether she runs in the Alabama or the Travers she will produce the exact same offspring which if you are breeding to race makes no difference.

No filly has won the Travers since 1915, hell no one has even tried since 1989, if she wins it her name will be remembered. If she wins the Alabama no one will really care.

Proud Spell may be tougher competition than the lineup of crap pointing to the Travers. Bigger field or not wouldn't you want to take on slower horses?

You have another horse that would be the second favorite in the Alabama without Music Note? Why the hell would you run them against each other?

If she loses you can blame it on her freakin when she saw Macho Again's penis.

Verdict - Travers in a landslide.

Travers without question. She's proven more at 10f than any of the horses in the Travers have. I think the best horse that will enter the gate for either of the races is Proud Spell so that makes the Alabama the tougher race.

I'd run Music Note in the Alabama and Little Belle in the Travers.
