![]() Phoenix Tower looks to have the strongest credentials, but everything could be thrown up in the air if we get the weather we are expecting tonight and over the next few days. If the weather forecasters have got it right, we are likely to see the Eclipse run on VERY soft ground.
The news seems to be right about Rio, as this was his supposed target and he isn't there.

![]() Oh I thought the new plan with Rio was the Sussex Stakes. Not sure...
Boys in blue will only run one here. Which one though? Anyone else think it's gonna end up having only 6 runners (maybe 7)? |

Sporting Life... CECIL DUO TOP ECLIPSE FIELD By Keith Hamer, PA Sport Henry Cecil's duo Phoenix Tower and Multidimensional are among a field of nine declared for the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday. The master of Warren Place will be seeking his first success in the Group One event over 10 furlongs since Gunner B scored 30 years ago, and his fourth in all. Both horses go the Esher track on the back of fine performances at Royal Ascot where Phoenix Tower was second in the Prince of Wales's Stakes and Multidimensional runner-up in the Hardwicke Stakes. Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien, who won those races with Duke Of Marmalade and Macarthur respectively, relies on Mount Nelson to give him his fourth win in the race. He withdrew his other two entries King Of Rome and Plan. Godolphin, with four Eclipses under their banner, are double-handed through Literato and King Edward VII victor Campanologist, the only three-year-old in the line-up. However Literato needs rain to fall to take up his place. The popular seven-year-old Maraahel and Rob Roy are set to represent Sir Michael Stoute, who has won the race five times. John Gosden's Pipedreamer and Stotsfold, trained by Walter Swinburn, successful twice as a jockey, complete the line-up. Hattan, from Clive Brittain's stable, was the only other withdrawal at the 48-hour final declaration stage. (WHEW! Good news.) ![]() Last edited by my miss storm cat : 07-03-2008 at 10:15 AM. |

I doubt Literato will run, he's now ruined and needs softer ground (rain we were predicted hasn't come). Saw him at Newmarket last week and he was carrying plenty of condition. I'd be very surprised if he will run, unless we get a lot of rain.
