Default Thank you God

A grade 2 win for Giacomo. You haters can eat my waste.Retire him please(so we don't have to hear the constant crap from people about how Giacomo is such a bad horse, or "just a lucky" horse.)

I couldn't be happier. Had him huge in a matchup against Preachin, didn't think he'd get up. What a win!

Some are better than others but there has never been a "bad" horse win the Derby!

Very true.A bad horse has never won the Derby, and I think the people that own and train this horse have been totally disrespected for over a year.People should have more respect for the winner of our biggest American race.Another bunch of crap is the people that say he won't fight.Well, Trevor told the truth about him on the turn.He said he needed to do a little better...Well,he fought for this one.He wanted this one,and people who thought he would only come like that "one lucky time" are just wrong.

I don't understand your post. Why do you want Giacomo to retire? He looked good running down Preach, who had to duel almost 97% of the way.

His running style does require some help. His barn should get some speedy rabbit to enter for all of his races. They'll win more races

He beat a bunch of Grade 3 horses at best. He is still a lucky horse, barely a GIII one at that. I agree: RETIRE HIM NOW! HE WON'T WIN AGAIN THIS YEAR!

it was a great race except for dropping Papi Chullo out of a hard fought 3rd.

I would like to see him go out a winner.Go out showing everybody that he can indeed show some heart. He didn't have to win that. That took a competitor to get up,and win that. For too long he has been looked upon as a bum.Well he isn't.I'd be happy if they let him retire now.Last thing I want is him getting hurt.People don't appreciate him anyways.

I was pulling for him and it was nice to see him close so determinedly.
That was a short race for him to get up and win. Maybe he will pull off a few more surprises this year before hanging it up.

this keeps him in his average of one win per year, right?

the commercial breeders don't like Giacomo because he's by Holy Bull and they don't like Papi Chullo because he's by Comeonmom, a Halo line sire.

Comeonmom stands at a modest 100+ year old family farm in western NY and it would have been a big plus had Papi Chullo placed in this G2. PC did beat Giacomo in an earlier stakes and they'll never be able to take that away from him.

if horses like monarchos don't get a lot of respect from a lot of people, why would you ever expect giacomo to get any??

it's really a shame tho that this horse has taken so long to 'back up' his derby win. also a shame that holy bull still can't seem to get a break. always liked that horse.

Yeah but he makes them count, 13 starts, 3 wins, and about 2.25M in earnings.

Danzig can act like a btch from time to time, and this is one of those times. He averages 173k/start,and she has to be dogging him like this. I am sure Jerry Moss and Shirreffs are far from disappointed with him.

I still don't get why you want him retired. I am not a huge fan of the horse (although I don't dislike him either) but it seems like you like him a lot. He looked pretty good today, so why not take a shot at Lava Man in the PC and then point to the BCC?
I would not currently give him much of a chance to win those races, but hell I gave him NO chance to win the Derby and I didn't think he would win today, so wtf do I know?

They are always gunna make fun of this horse.I would just like for his last race to be a Graded Stakes Win. If he runs 4th or 5th in a race, and is retired, then you just give the savages more tool to cut with.

It's wonderful to see Giacomo get a "1" next to his name again ... but ...

... the narrowness of his victory and the quality ... or lack thereof ... of his competition ... don't offer much hope for the future.

He'll be OK against G3 horses ... like the ones he faced today ... but don't get too excited about his chances against real G1/G2 competition.

Anyhow ... congratulations Giacomo ... and in case you forgot ... that little enclosure they took you to after the race .... is called the Winner's Circle.

That is an interesting way to "congratulate" a horse.
