Default morose musings

Not to be a jinx, but given the lack of a cohesive response by industry "leaders" to the PETA debacle, I sure hope Preakness day doesn't hold any unpleasant surprises.

I think you meant on the horse front, but I'm sure "they" will make things uncomfortable for Preakness attendees

I was referring to the horse front. As for PETA, I guess I wouldn't mind it so much if they have one of those "I'd rather go naked than attend a Triple Crown race" protests.

Their protest on Preakness Day will be nothing more than the Martha Burke vs. Augusta National protest.

I don't think those that are going to the track on Preakness Day will listen to much PETA has to say.

Who would you consider the leaders to be? Are you talking about notable trainers and jockies? I am not really sure what the CEO of the NTRA does. I would say that maybe the sport could use some sort of national figurehead/commissioner, but I am guessing that he would have no jurisdiction when it came to giving days and fines. Someone who could be a national spokesman and give the sport a face that would be recognized with horse racing.
