Default Cal Derby; hunch play :-) and jockey angle

Hey, hunch play of the day.

4-7-10 combos in the Cal Derby at Golden Gate Fields.

Baze-Baze-Baze.

Seriously, I've written before it bugs me when the big name riders come to a track for the "big race," but do not get a prior race over the course on the day.

As of this moment, neither Victor Espinoza or Joe Talamo have a mount until the 8th race Cal Derby. Talamo is on the 2nd favorite, Victory Pete. Espinoza is on the 3rd favorite, Robscarvic. Tyler Baze, on the 12-1 Spinning Sound, also does not ride until the 8th race.

On the other side of the coin, Alex Solis is on the favorite Yankee Bravo. Solis does have an early mount over the track. So does Michael Baze on 10-1 Medjool.

It's just a pet peeve of mine that before I load up on a horse, I prefer the jockey to have been over the track in race conditions.

Seem's like hunch plays are a good bet on that track today!

OK....

I guess this better fits over in selections, but since I started the thread I'll mention I really like Bert's Law and Medjool to hit the board. Bert's Law has been running and closing nicely. Medjool, a son of Monarchos, has been running consistently well and improving.

Not sure how I'm gonna play 'em yet, but my tickets will have those two in the top 3.

I think Yankee Bravo may have spent a little too much in his last race to have much to give here.

Kudos to Alex Solis for a nice ride on Yankee Bravo. That horse has now won a couple of times in a row with an aggressive afterburner stretch drive through and around horses.
