well...i'm guessing that it has something to do with a guy names gondorf, who got in trouble for swindling.
byzantine perhaps referring to an old style of something?

old fashioned swindling perhaps???

Surprised the 'Gondorf' reference is proving itself obscure... Zig is in the ballpark though.

Not familiar with Tolkien, but is Gondorf from Lord of the Rings? The Byzantine reference has me completely baffled
