Default Saratoga SHOWdown a no-show?

Anyone know why NYRA isn't offering their contests anymore? The Saratoga showdown used to be the best because the pot would get up to nearly 60k. I'm assuming since it's not up yet that they're not running it, because they usually take entries very soon(if not already). real bummer.

I got annoyed when they dropped the Fantasy stable contests. I used to pay a lot more attention to NY racing, especially the Aqu winter meet, when I had horses and jockeys and trainers out there getting me points. Now I hardly spend much time on NY tracks except for major events and Saratoga.

Well, for a long time they ignored the fact that they allowed a loophole to be used by those who knew about it.A very arrogant bunch ( who oversaw that contest) thought they could get away with that.Well it cost one person 2nd,and he got 4th(just because he didn't know to use the loophole on the final day of the 2004 Saratoga Meet.) I wouldn't be surprised if they got sued for it,but probably they just wanted to cut out the cost of running it.

LOL.. Scuds... that's an ESPN message board flashback.. I remember you posting about that there too!! Yeah, that's an awkward loophole giving players BOTH parts of an entry when it becomes the posttime favorite and your horse scratches out. But, what can you do? What they should have done was make that very clear in the rules(if they didn't... i never read them that closely).

Maybe someone will run our own SHOWdown in the contest section...they are pretty fun. I always seemed to get eliminated early in those things.

I hope they do it. Maybe I'll email them to find out. I wanted to play last year, but I kinda forgot (oops!) and was definitely going to give it a go this summer.

I finished 29th in the Belmont Fall Showdown last year. I am embarrased to say the horse who knocked me out that day. I'll keep that info locked deep inside me.
