How could he pass it up? The beauty of the move is that if he flops, he gets the $$$ and every college in the country will be on the phone to hire him.

This is coming from a very unhappy Gator fan.

I bet they have PP.

Wonder if he'd have taken the Magic job if he had already taken the UK job? Wouldn't put it past him.

Pretty quiet in here from the Gators fans!!! At first I was really upset. but then i could see it from BDs' point...everyone is gone now from team...6M a year to accept the challenge...and if it doesn't work out,he can still coach anywhere he wants. Will be interesting to see if his transition works!

With the continued improvement of Darko Milicic, Donovan will have them in the finals in a year!! He sees Howard and Darko as an upscale version of Horford and Noah.

Or he could have just built a legacy at one of the best men's basketball programs of all time and made about 2/3's of what he will make with the Magic (with all the extra's) and probably do "okay" for himself...

I'm unhappy, but I don't blame Donovan.

As for the new recruits, I work with a guy directly whose son just signed with the UF program and he is definitely staying. According to my co-worker, his son stated that the majority of the new recruits will stay as long as they hire a good coach. (Well duh.) LOL

Word is that Foley is going to interview Anthony Grant (VCU head coach and former assistant under Donovan.) We'll see...

Should be interesting if Grant is offered the job and takes it after being at VCU for only one year and winning the CAA. Plus he also beat Duke in 1st round of March Madness and losing a great OT game to Pitt. It would be a great loss to VCU, but a great choice for the Gators because he knows the system.
