Default Barbaro, A Nation's Horse

Last Saturday afternoon NBC was suppose to air this one hour special after the Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangers NHL game. The game went into overtime so they couldn't air it but announcements were made that it would air instead tonight (May 4) on CNBC.

I was getting ready to DVR it and in my channel line up, there is nothing to be found. I even double checked with Yahoo TV listings and still nothing.

Has anyone heard anything? NBC is selling the DVD which I have no problem buying, but I am impatient and thought it would be great to watch either tonight or in the morning prior to the Derby. Please post if you know something. Thank you!

it's meant to air after the derby at 8 pm tomorrow...but I think you can also buy a copy from exclusively equine. there is another thread about it here somewhere.

According to TvGuide.com, they now have poker scheduled in both those time slots on CNBC.

Damn, was that show tough to watch. What a warrior he was. Just watching him win those pre derby races on replays...I heard the HBO special on him is even more tearful.

My brother said he'd never go to the track again after watching that...For marginal fans who don't realize that can happen, it was a horrible blow to the sport.

you know, some things are better left unsaid. for those who have 'gotten over it'--good for you. but to tell others to do so-well, that's ballsy.

Was very sad to see again...HE was a "warrior". Too bad it's things like this that brings horseracing to the forefront...

yeah, he was. but i kept up with him so much from preakness on, i don't want to go back and watch any of it. heck, it was only a couple of years ago that i finally read the book on ruffian. it's just not something i do. kind of like that dale earnhardt movie, i refused to watch it.

I think you are right about how much he meant to those around him being a positive. I just wish more trainers, jocks, and owners cared that much about the horse.

He won the damn Derby. Of course the freakin horse is going to mean a lot to those people. There are lots of people that love and care about their horses just as much as those people do, just without the limelight of being a Derby winner.
