![]() Possibly one addition.....
From Racing Post. Dettori heads for Jebel Ali by Racing Post staff . FRANKIE DETTORI makes a rare visit to Jebel Ali on Friday and has three rides on a six-race card (five thoroughbred), highlighted by the Listed Jebel Ali Sprint. Dettori, last seen locally when working Discreet Cat last Saturday, does not have a mount in that race but partners Satish Seemar's Buscape in a seven-furlong handicap that is the track's last race of the season. He also partners Adi Selvaratnam's pair of Rise View in the maiden and Sama Dubai in another seven-furlong handicap. Sixteen go to post in the featured sprint with 2002 winner Conroy and 2005 victor Magic Master among them. The winner will be hoping for a last-minute invite to the Golden Shaheen on World Cup night and both South Africa and Brazil are doubly represented to give the five-furlong race an international flavour. Mike de Kock's Key Of Destiny was third in this race last year, while compatriot Herman Brown saddles Protector who was a winner on the Nad Al Sheba turf earlier this year. He beat Satish Seemar's Khabfair on that occasion, but Ted Durcan elects to ride that horse over Magic Master and Doctor Hilary. An all-weather winner in Britain, Khabfair has to be respected and Durcan reports he worked well on this unique dirt surface last week. Brazil is represented by Big Spartan and New Freedom with the latter appearing the first string on jockey bookings - Kerrin McEvoy has the spare on his stablemate. Erwan Charpy has solid chances with Botanical and Mukafeh, the choice of Richard Hills, which leavesMartin Dwyer to partner Taqseem. He is one of four in the race for Musabah Al Muhairi and, like stable companions, Instant Recall and Visionist, cannot be ruled out in a wide open contest. * * * It's all about National Colour..... ![]() Last edited by my miss storm cat : 03-23-2007 at 03:15 PM. |

![]() Another addittion. (And a good one).
TIZA GETS WORLD CUP DAY INVITE Herman Brown trained Tiza (owned by the Bayern Syndicate and James Atkinson) has cracked an invite to the 1200m Dubai Golden Shaheen on World Cup night. The star South African sprinter has already placed twice in Dubai this season and tries the dirt surface at Nad Al Sheba for the first time. Tiza has won on the dirt in South African and the stable doesn't think that the surface will be an issue. "To get a chance to race for that type of stake is rare, we will take this opportunity with both hands," said Trainer Brown. Tiza has shown some explosive work at home in Dubai over the past three months, but has run below his work in races, most especially in his first start when the stable was confident of a win. There is a possibility that the surface change could bring the best out in the talented sprinter. Tiza's invitation makes him the third World Cup runner for the Brown stable in only their second full international season - an impressive feat by any standard. Brown reports that Sheema Classic hopeful, Sushisan is working extremely well and his Sunday morning gallop was impressive. With only days to go, it will an important week for the connections with runners in the big race. FACT FILE: TIZA (SAF) 4yrs Bay G (17) Sire: Goldkeeper (USA) Dam: Mamuska (SAF) by Elliodor (FR) Ratings: Dirt : 110 Turf : 110 Owner : The Bayern Syndicate / J Atkinson Trainer : Herman Brown

Contenders for the G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, Seeking the Best (Ire) (Seeking the Gold) and Agnes Jedi (Jpn) (Agnes World), worked in company, getting 600 meters in :35. Their trainer, Hideyuki Mori, said, ASeeking the Best would have the best chance out of the two, but Agnes Jedi will be a much better horse than what you saw last time he ran (Mar. 1 at Nad al Sheba) as he had just arrived and was not in the best condition.@ The five-year-old ran fifth in the G3 Al Shimaal over track and trip, beaten four lengths by Terrific Challenge...Bartola (Arg) (Roy), one of two fillies entered in the G2 UAE Derby, covered 600 meters in :41, travelling on the bit throughout.

![]() Just thought I'd start it. The key here is, US speed is in a class by itself. Even the only non-US-based winner of this race in the past was a US-bred.

![]() Tough race, went with TERRIFIC CHALLENGE with a win over the track.
Think the Americans will dominate again.

![]() Okay, you got in first. I'll post here.<grin>
Impressions. 1) US horses dominate this race, even without a race over the track. Nothing like US speed elsewhere. 2) In a straightaway race, your horse better be able to handle 7f around a turn because there is no breather. Proud Tower Too was better at 7f in the US than at 6f. So using my criteria, Bishop Court Hill has the edge. |

No offense to the harness, but why can't they preview the next at Dubai? |

![]() Just noted on HRTV that no horse has won at 6f this year from post 10 out. If National Colour can win, she will have to be much the best.
