Default adoption needed for Z Me Zipp

This little lady, a former racehorse, was pulled from a feedlot just minutes before she was to be loaded for a trip to the slaughter house, and has gotten a second chance at Fair Dinkum Farm Equine Rescue in Cody, Wyoming. She had some physical problems which seem to be well on the mend (the excerpt from an email from Fair Dinkum, below, details some of those problems). Just thought I'd post this info in case anyone has the ability and inclination to adopt.

We are happy to report Zippy is improving each and every day. Her physical problems (i.e. infected head wound, starvation and cracked hooves) are well on the mend. Zipp had a visit to an equine dentist who floated her teeth and removed some sharp points that were making it difficult for her to chew her food properly. Three months of good food and vitamin supplements has helped Zipp become almost chubby (for a thoroughbred) and she is regaining the muscle tone she lost. She now holds her head up high and has that awesome spark of life back in her eyes.

But most importantly after everything this poor mare has been through she is still very affectionate and trusting. During veterinary visits or other times of stress, rather than fight, Zipp buries her head against the chest of the person holding her for reassurance and comfort. When Zipp sees her favorite people she will trot over to the fence to receive a scratch on the neck. She has even gotten into the habit of giving Jeff a big wet lick to the face in greeting each day.

Now that spring seems to be on its way our goal over the next month will be to help Zipp become the physical beauty she once was. Under all that winter mud we know there exists a pretty, dapple grey mare. A bath is definitely the first order of business for the warmer days ahead. Then we will begin to evaluate Zipp for her saddle training. With her outstanding attitude and lovely long legs we believe she will be perfect for a new career as a dressage or jumping champion. If you are seriously interested in adopting this beautiful mare and giving her the loving, forever home that she so richly deserves we would encourage you to request an adoption application at admin@fairdinkumfarm.com
