Default Favorite places; Super over 1/2 million $$$

The 6th today at Santa Anita.

The favorite finished 2nd, with the two longest shots on the board 1st and 3rd.

Total superfecta payout something like $558,000.

The kicker was that Victor Espinoza was the jockey on the longest shot on the board that won the race!

I never understood the hard-on people have for Espinoza. What am I missing?

No risk of redboarding on that. Kudos.

Good point, Randall. I know little of Espinoza's riding to have an opinion one way or the other. But, I do know some people think he's pretty good.

Me?

I'm a Tyler Baze and Garrett Gomez fan so obviously I don't know much!

I just missed my big tri of the day in Santa Anita 7th. I really though Porto Fino would find a way to hit the board in the top 3. I had the 4 and 12 nicely in some boxes, but the 4 finished 4th.

Of course.

Fortunately I live in California so I can go get an OK bottle of local wine to drown my woulda coulda sorrows!

(I started to cap that 6th race last night......shoulda looked harder.....those are the kind I've caught in my lifetime!)

Should have listened to DerbyTrail "Live" this morning...some fool called in and asked the Steves what they thought about the horse (Politicial Maneuver) the 11 horse @ 30-1 in question...

Again, I follow Cali racing, but not nearly as close as NY or KY...but I've never thought he was great shakes at all. Maybe a 7 out of 10. Better than most, but not elite. He isn't a difference maker type jockey from the races I've watched.

Correction, Victor was on the 2nd longest shot on the board.
