Bay Meadows March 2, breakdown updates?

Happened to catch the first few races from Bay Meadows at the OTB and noted there was a DNF in three of the first four races.

Excess Dixie in the 1st, Papoos Dream in the 3rd, and Plain Jane Genius in the 4th.

I didn't see enough of any of the incidents to have an idea how they turned out.

Anyone know?

I read on another forum that Excess Dixie was believed to have had a heart attack. Chart stated pulled up, vanned off in the upper part; collapsed and vanned off in the footnotes.

Don't know about Papoos Dream. Chart states broke down, vanned off.

The chart states that Plain Jane Genius was pulled up and walked off.


I check all charts every day, and record the breakdowns, pulled up and vanned off. A lot of horses never reappear. I don't record them if they were walked off, but sometimes an injury is discovered later, but the fans usually don't find out unless they really search or have an in.

I just read this, looks like she showed promise, too.

Papoos Dream has raced three times, all at Golden Gate. She flashed speed for a half-mile in a a $32,000 maiden claimer in her debut, which came in December, before fading badly.

"She wasn't quite ready the first time," trainer Bill McLean said. "She was outside horses and watching them. She was a little green and getting out."

Papoos Dream has scored wire-to-wire wins in her past two starts, another $32,000 maiden claimer in January followed by a starter allowance race Feb. 9.
