Just back from South FL -had a blast all weekend long - I would say Taj Mahal might be stretching it a bit, but it was nicer than I had envisioned based on the 1972 vintage branding on the side of the building upon arrival:
The bathrooms - another story entirely - you could hide a dead body in there without suspicion. A little snippet of the hot hot action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIIgn-Zm1xg&sns=em Of course FL Derby Saturday- met up with Antitrust, Sniper and Cajun Gator for a great afternoon at the races... I was there 3 years ago and would venture to bet there were twice as many people this year... I'd hate to imagine how much handle was lost due to having virtually no live tellers, and the machines they did have seem to malfunction every third of fourth person. Plus most of the people using the tote machines we not regular race goers, so the transactions took way longer than normal...Thankfully had my Twinspires acct on the phone, and just bet from the table we were sitting at - problem solved.... Sunday went down to Miami for the whole South Beach tourist thing, had lunch at some Ceviche place in Coconut Grove (really good) and swung by Hialeah on the way back to the hotel to check it out - The place was in surprisingly good shape, pink flamingos still holding court on the infield pond - Lotta fun! |
