What is the ratio of downside to upside. If he wins the derby they are selling to shiek mo for 50m. If he never wins a race again they have 3 to 4 million in stud value. After speaking to Mr. Iavarone today I have a very good understanding of what they did here. Also for reference, he said he bought the piece himself and has not syndicated to any partners. I cant understand how people on this board can doubt guys that have won the types of races they have in such a short period of time. It can only be jealousy. These guys are good for the game and if they can keep just 1 horse out of the hands of the Arabs we are all the better for it....Omar
No one really cares about IEAH's money or is jealous of them. You are the one who posted the topic, we just commented on it. If you dont agree with the opinions here give some reasons why instead of pulling the "jealousy" card. If you had spoken with Mr. Iavarone earlier why didnt you post that info before? We doubt "guys that have won these type of races" because they havent really won much in the grand scheme of things and most of these kind of purchases at this time of the year dont work out. No one is rooting against them but if the fair market value of this horse is in excess of 5 million dollars, the markets are a little slanted.

If I was the propaganda minister for an organization, I don't think comparing my group to the owners of Curlin would be great for business.

He's obviously a very nice sprinter - If anyone but Lukas had him, he'd be a mortal lock to cut-back to sprints.

it is not about fair value.Buying a leading contender for the derby has a premium built in. just compare the upside to the downside. after speaking to him it made sense. if he does nothing they have 2 mm in exposure if he fails as a stallion because he will get 3mm back to them .if he wins a big one or works as a stallion they hit a home run. Is this not true? as far as winning races. How many people win breeders cup races and can say they have the best turfer and sprinter in the country at the same time??

Thank God for IEAH they have a great guy like Mike Sherack working for them....as if they had you anywhere outside of the internet shilling for them their reputation would be even worse.

They must be really proud of your work. The idea is to make people interested in them.....not turned off. They really should gag you.

Your numbers are flawed because it has been stated that they did not purchase 100% of the horse which is what your numbers are based upon. Lots of people win Breeders Cup races (everybody here says there are too many BC races anyway, so how hard can they be to win) and I didnt know that they had bought Midnight Lute?

He has well known connections and is easily marketed to novices they recruited who happen to have tons of cash to burn.

If he retired right now I cant see him standing for more than $7500 in this market. The 100 mares a year for 3 years is not really pertinent at this level. #1 because these types get very little 2nd and 3rd year action because the fear of breeding to a cheap and cold stud and #2 because virtually no one has to pay full fee for stallions that dont have great demand.

Personally I love IEAH and hope that I am lucky enough to be able to sell a horse to them. Why should Sheikh Mo be the only overpayer on the market?
or paul reddam....

you might want to sit on a phone book, so you can see over your desk and read that he will make his 3yo debut on feb 22. you must really have a ton of time on your hands. Take a nap, you are embarrassing yourself...
