I wonder if they'll get their money back if he turns out to be a failure like their brilliant purchase last year.

NTamm1215 01-29-2008 11:34 AM

At least they're keeping him with Mott. Also, WinStar is retaining the breeding rights- must have been a real sweetheart deal for them.

It's not often you get the opportunity to sell a slow horse for a lot of money.

It kind of reminds me of the line from Die Hard " You asked for a miracle....I give you the F.B.I. "

The one and only Lawrence the Roman.

Also don't forget about Big Brown who ran once in a Saratoga MSW on closing day, was purchased by IEAH and hasn't been seen since.

They foolishly bought him after he ran a couple of phony races while taking advantage of the inside bias on the inner dirt. After he was horribly exposed in the Whirlaway, original owner Larry Roman let them out of the deal.

Ieah is not giving up any breeding rights at all. Read the release, horse will stand at winstar and they will manage his book. slow horse??? dont hate the player....or be jealous of them

Wasn't he supposed to have returned about seven different times? Maybe the IEAH publicist assigned to Derby Trail, you know the guy who started this thread and only posts IEAH related news, can give us some long awaited hype about him.

He's a slow horse and his races have proven that. Could he improve as a 3YO? Of course....but he better.

Excellent sale by WinStar. Took the money....soon they will want to run....and hide.

so , you are saying this horse has no shot to win a big one????

The Bid 01-29-2008 11:48 AM

He is a slow horse, but the Dutrow factor may bail them out.

No he has no shot MP3

I said nothing of the kind. There are plenty of slow horses out there and any horse can make a big jump from 2 to 3....and Bill Mott is certainly as good a trainer as there is at bringing a horse along.

I think it's funny that many people are knocking other 3YOs, that have already run, as being too slow ( and they may be right ) yet they are already lengths faster than Court Vision and he seems to be held in high regard right now. Personally he reminds me of that slow Patrick Biancone horse from a few years ago ( he actually won a prep at Fair Grounds ). Horses with late bursts of speed often fool people into thinking they are better than they are and they are not only usually too slow but also need very good set ups to get lucky.

Right now there is one very fast and proven horse that is now 3....War Pass. Now, obviously he has real distance question marks, and if he proves not to be able to go long the Classic races are open to a great many horses. However, Court Vision is still much slower than most of those. Could that change? Absolutely, but I highly doubt his chances are commiserate with what was paid for him.

Scipion, yes very similar. I think he ended up being a highpriced lawn mower

He's staying with Mott.

The Bid 01-29-2008 11:54 AM

Oh he stays with Mott!! Winstar must not have done the deal unless he stayed, I like it.

mp3 01-29-2008 11:55 AM

respect your post. well stated. I guess the rest needs to be digested

Yes, sir, Scipion ended his career in a N2X on turf at Belmont finishing eighth at 5-1. That was actually this past July.

That's right his two wins were the dazzling maiden race at Saratoga in 2004 that completely fell apart and the Risen Star in February 2005.
