What is it with connections trying to ruin good sprinters in Triple Crown races?
Hansen should go to Hollywood Park. First off, they'd probably let the owner paint the horse's tail, especially turqoise and pink so they can promote Zenyatta some more. Secondly, he could be as devastating as Old Trieste in races like the Affirmed and the Swaps.

Could you imagine Hansen in a 5-horse Grade 3 going 8.5f at that track?

Liaison and Rousing Sermon can round out the tri.

According to Maker maybe.

That owner seems like the type of person who can change his mind on a whim.

Jay Privman ‏ @DRFPrivman
Went the Day Well, troubled 4th in Derby, definite for Preakness, according to Team Valor CEO Barry Irwin. Velazquez rides back. #preakness

Interesting to me on a couple levels. In the last couple years, this is the kind of horse that has automatically been pointed toward the Belmont.

I think there are some interesting new shooters, but I'd have to think any of them are only usable underneath, and deeply underneath at that. I think even Creative Cause and Liaison will be solid in the Preakness, as well as Went The Day Well, Bodemiester and I'll Have Another of course.

Hansen (if he goes), along with Paynter could lead to another quick pace, Bodemeister needs to simply relax and mature in the next two weeks

Great looking Preakness

I'm not prepared to give up on Isn't He Clever just yet - He seems a logical outsider that can impact the exotics

Agreed.

I also think I'll let Went the Day Well beat me again in the Preakness if he goes.

That's a pretty rag-tag group of new shooters.

Interestingly, the only two horses since Deputed Testamony to win the Preakness without having run in the Ky Derby are Red Bullet and Rachel Alexandra. Red Bullet is the only horse in the last 30+ years to win without having had a race in the prior 21 days.

This group of 3-year-olds appears even worse than the weak crops of 2011, 2010, and 2009, with the notable exception of Bodemeister, whose effort on Saturday was so good that the defeat didn’t even sting Baffert. “This is the only time I’ve run second where I’ve been happy because he ran his race,” the trainer said. “He’s a brilliant horse.”

Andrew Beyer in the main article on DRF right now.

Am I misremembering something? Didn't Bernardini win the Preakness the year Barbaro was injured? I was thinking he was a new shooter.
