Gene was an amazing player. Great players aren't always great ballstrikers though. Great players know how to play the game properly.

kev don't forgot snead or nelson

nelson reitred well early in his career and think about how many more majors snead would have won if ben hogan had not recoverd from the car accident

as for a golf swing , none was ever more fluid and picturesque than the slammer , but the others all could get the ball in the hole better than the man from hot springs

I have Snead as #4 on my list of ballstrikers.

ok kev - i know sergio can strike it , but how in the world can you put him ahead of numbers 8, 9 , and 10 and where is greg norman he is by far on the list due to the fact that he was the longest/straighest driver in the hisotry of the game

If Sergio had the brain and putting stroke of Tiger...he would have won so many majors by now, its scary.

as far as Greg Norman? F*ck him...choking rat shoulda have won 8-10 majors.

Chandler Harper played with both those guys, he used to tell me NO ONE could come close to Hogans ballstriking.

kev i don't disagree on the fact that norman should have won more, but, from a pure ball striking standpoint he has to be on the list

kev - name a longer and straighter driver of the golf ball than Greg Norman

u can't - he will live in infamy because of Larry Mize, Bob Tway - miracle shots that beat him

he totally broke down against faldo in the '96 masters and the '90 british open

but the shot i'll never forget is in the british open playoff against calc - norman drove into a bunker which was in the middle of the fairway and unreachable by anyone all week! - he preceed to make an "x" on the hole !!!!

kev - hogan was a better player than snead no question , he out worked snead, no question , he had more heart the snead no question , he was better under the gun no question, but Snead could do things with the golf club that Hogan was not physically capable of doing

I simply have to disagree Marty. I will take the mans word that played side by side against both of them for years.

Norman was a great driver of the golf ball, no question, probably one of the best.

Steve Jones at #6 is ABSURD! Maybe before the injury, but come on. And Larry Nelson at #8, nice guy, but give me a break

Shhh. Scav was eyeballing those pants. It was going to be his new waitress killer look for the fall of '08. Now, you may be scaring him off.

As far as the list, I will not argue with a dude with gp in front of his name.

I think it is ironic that you wrote this just after talking about Sergio... talk about a choking rat.

It is near impossible to compare eras in any sport. They are both supremely great. Era's can't be compared. Which is why I will always state Otto Graham is the best qb ever...better than Montana, Brady, Manning and whomever else you want to toss up there. He did something no one will ever match. But as far as which is better...Tiger or Jack??...there isn't really a wrong answer.
