Watched the race. CQ was the best and fought back to win. If Grasshopper had enough, he had time to get up but didn't. Nice to see this horse hit his zone.

Thanks for disparaging my home state of Louisiana! So, Grasshopper dueling in stretch and failing to win is cause for suspicion?

I have already described Grasshopper to another handicapping audience as "the Aaron Burr of duelers." I've seen him lose live twice -- yesterday, and in last year's edition of Super Derby at Louisiana Downs. Both losses as heavily bet favorite. Grasshopper gained acclaim for finishing second to Street Sense in 2007 Travers Stakes at Saratoga. So does your suspiciousness also extend to Empire State as well?

The rare Aaron Burr reference. There are often....unusual...happenings in your state. I was warned about this many years ago by people from LA. But the food sure is good.

Yes, he won the duel with Alexander Hamilton. However, he could never win "political duel" (aka the "big one") for offices he coveted - presidency of United States and governorship of New York.

Trying to mix political history and horse racing methaphorically is slippery slope. I may have bid and hung on this one!
