Grasshopper ?

I have watched the replay a number of times now, and i think robby cost him the race.

he lets cq go, and he is sitting chilly on the rail, way over confident. i would love to see calvin back on this horse. actually the more i watch i am more disgusted with this ride then i am with gomez on indian blessing

??? who then ? gomez had tons on cq, but still grasshopper seemed to have more, and no one on here is talking about it. robby never asked untill cq went by, and even then it did not appear that he was riding as hard as he could

jcs11204 03-08-2008 08:14 PM

was the ride not as bad as i think ? or is everyone pumped up on the indian blessing thread ?

sumitas 03-08-2008 08:19 PM

When it came down to it, it was horse power vs. horse power.

outofthebox 03-08-2008 08:22 PM

Robby rode fine. Did he wait till the mid stretch to crack him, yea, but that is Robbies style. The race didnt shape up like he thought, he wanted a target to run at, and didnt get one. A good race by two decent colts...

so you think it was a good ride by robby ? i thought it was horrible.

Dude riders rarely win or lose races, except for CC Lopez

yo, you need to watch Robbie ride on a regular basis before you question his style or his tactics. That's how he rides...Get used to it.

I come back to my old Louisiana mantra.

Always be suspicious of anything in, of, or from Louisiana.

I'm kickin' my own arse for betting Grasshopper as the heavy chalk there today.

Watch it a few more times and then if nothing changes go see your optometrist. CQ was coming out of his fuc%$in skin on the backstretch. It was apparent that he was the one to beat. The blinks obviously focused him.

Here's what GG said:
"He was up in the bridle," said Garrett Gomez, who rode Circular Quay. "I was very surprised. I was happy, but at the same time, I wasn't liking where he was putting me between the five-eighths and the half-mile pole. I didn't want to let him go. I was hoping [Magna Graduate] would clear, then I was able to ease him out."

MOTO here, but, I think the race would of had a different pace scenerio if Lanerie hadn't got dumped. Who knows may of set-up even more for CQ.

I think Robbie knew GH would come back on CQ when CQ made the lead, he just didn't plan on CQ having the last laugh. Nor did I, thought that GH had the little horse everyone loves to hate right where he wanted him.

Danzig 03-08-2008 10:40 PM

i agree. silver lord out of it changed the complexion of the race. regardless, a good race back for cq, and a heck of a run by both him and the second place finisher.

VOL JACK 03-08-2008 10:50 PM

It was skinda funny how the horse just stood there after CL fell off like a drunk cowboy. At least they will be able to run him back whenever, instead of him running off for 2 miles.

For anyone who wants to watch a funny reaction from a horse after the gates open, pull up Ma's Meatballs last race at Turfway on Jan. 9. :D

the whole thing was kind of strange. i watched the start several times trying to figure out what happened. just ducked a bit i guess. but yeah, luckily he just stopped.

My feeling is that some people just don't want to admit that Grasshopper isn't particularly good.

JJP 03-09-2008 09:28 AM

This race was f-d up from the start. If Lanerie doesn't get tossed, Silver Lord likely is on an easy lead.

Who is GOOD in the HC division other than Curlin?

SOREHOOF 03-09-2008 09:35 AM

Heatseeker looks good on fake dirt.
