No wonder test scores are still down.

How do I get back my tax dollars that went to "No Child Left Behind?"
There was absolutely nothing grammatically wrong with what the previous member posted. Your crude response was inappropriate. You seem to be a big blowhard. Is that the level of discourse to be expected here? You owe the other gentleman an apology. I doubt if you paid very much in taxes. You probably received more in welfare checks and food stamps than you were ever taxed for.

1.) Welcome to the board.

2.) Don't talk to SentToStud in that manner.

3.) Do you have a problem with people who receive welfare checks and food stamps?

Poorly said. Your post makes no sense as something serious or as a parody. What has the poor quality of a crop got to do with placing winning bets in a 20-horse field? There's no logical connection there. If Sceretariat or War Admiral or Spectacular Bid were "wheeled out" I'm sure the original poster would be quite pleased. Go back to your scratch pad and try to develop a message that's a little more comprehensible.

1. Thank you.
2. May I talk to anyone else in that manner?
3. I have a problem with blowhards who unnecessarily try to demean other members who are trying to make a valid point.

Geesh, talk about making friends right off the bat...

OF COURSE this is a weak crop. That's pretty evident to anyone that watches horseracing on a regular basis. I still find it exciting to look at the contenders we DO have, though. It's not like we're going to get a new bunch of 3 year olds this year, so we might as well enjoy what we've got, make as much money as we can handicapping them and hope that next year's crop is better. If this is the level of discourse to be expected here, maybe I'm in the wrong place. I suppose the same people who were so sour with you will now come crashing down on me.

The reason I agree with you is that this year's 3 year olds have not run very fast. All of the prep races have been run in slow times and none of the top contenders seem to have improved much since they were 2 year olds.
yes it's clear you are in the wrong place.

thanks for stopping by though, don't forget to sign the register and buy a DT hat on your way out.

If the thread hasn't been taken seriously. it is more because of the satiric tone and positioning F/L set with it.. not because there is an inability for the assembled to discuss the quality of the crop. Elsewhere, there was a day long delving into Tiago and his merits as a Derby player as well as a thorough analysis of Pletcher's individual disappoin.. uh, prospects.

I think F/L suggested a reasonable premise that this is a sub-par Derby crop and sophomore group in general, so I'm happy to start.

It's a sub-par group as of now, remarkably slow based on Beyer pars with historical Derby preps, but with a twist. They're largely sound and have reversed a recent trend that saw few of the precocious juvenile stars carrying their 2 year old success into a sophomore season.

There is simply one seemingly outstanding horse in Street Sense; a consistant, professional horse in Scat Daddy; a couple of potential stars that may be truly top level thoroughbreds (Any Given Saturday, Nobiz, Great Hunter) and a hatful of late arrivals that could be really nice at some point this year (Curlin, Deadly Dealer, Ketchikan).

After that, there is a serious dropoff to a large group of 'nice' horses that seem largely interchangeable and forgettable... As always though, there is a long way to go before we will get the true read. But as of April 10th? Doesn't look like a particularly memorable group.

I really dislike both Chris R. and him, but credit where credit is due I suppose.

And while some may deem it off-topic, I don't think that posting this anywhere could ever be considered off-topic based solely on its delicious nature:

Speaking of odors -- much like your Derby selections.

No, I think it was pretty clear your post that you said that those were the best horses pointing towards the Derby -- including the best horses since the Bid.
