if the county police there are at all like the local yokels here, it could only improve to get them out of the lead role.

i think the police force there is a good example of how the feds mishandled the aftermath of 911, and homeland security. every pissant police force wanted their share of the largesse that was suddenly made available-as tho a place like ferguson was as large a terrorist target as new york city.
so, they get all this money and all these cool toys-so, hey, might as well use them. too bad there was no training given along with all that.

You're right- there's been a lot of discussion about how when a police force acquires all this stuff they get an itch to use them, and they haven't received military training in proper behavior in conflicts, so they make up their own rules as they go along.

Call me a pansy but I think shooting him dead was a bit extreme. Especially when no gun or weapon was used in the robbery of the blunts.

Shooting him with a Taser or simply maintaining a stand-off until backup arrived would have been the prudent action. IMO
