Race 8 : In the eighth race, I liked Archer Hill going to the front and try to control the action rather than stalking and getting buried inside. Amazing that the projected front runner there, Analysis, won from off the pace (Lanerie).

Race 9 : As for the ninth race, I will never, ever, ever play the constantly hanging Ballerina Belle in any situation where it requires her to seal the deal by passing a front runner in the stretch. Second in six of nine starts now, that was a terrible hang job against a 44 and change front running Richies Sweetheart who was shortening stride.

Ballerina Belle had absolutely zero excuse for not running that horse down, zero. Painful.

I was absolutely sure that Ballerina Belle was rolling right to the front ... and thought it was going to be a three or four length win. As soon as she comes level to the front runner watch her virtually pull herself up and the stride shortened. If I was training Ballerina Belle, I would put her on the lead at any cost in her next start (5.5f T at Saratoga or 6f T at Belmont). Also, I would take the blinkers off since those cups might be taking horses out of her view.

Agreed. Let's just say it was a costly runner-up finish here for yours truly. Lesson learned on that one - she always looks great and needs a change in running style and equipment.

Thanks! Nakatani really does a great job on the turf. Looked like he knew he was loaded and unhappy with his position early but once the hole opened for him he was gone.

Nice job, Jim!

Spa 10

I just feel like the 5 is in an impossible position here, I doubt he can get the lead over the 1 and if Ortiz goes for it the more likely result of a duel with the 1 is last than first. Feel like Silver Max gets away here as Ortiz really has to ride for second.

$20DD 1/3,7
$5DD 1/1

I thought the connections of Sayaad would understand the situation they were in, I was very wrong. Personally, I would have scratched the horse.
