DRF's Joe Nevills

Hip No. 44, b. f., by Galileo—Luas Line, by Danehill, consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, agent.
An Irish-bred filly by the global powerhouse sire Galileo, out of the Grade 1-winning Danehill mare Luas Line, who is also classic-placed in Ireland. Bred by Mrs. Evie Stockwell, the filly is a sibling to two winners from three foals to race out of Luas Line, including Group 3-placed full brother Impulsive Moment. She is from the family of Grade 1 winner Prince Arch, Group 1 winner Kingsfort, and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Donativum.

Hip No. 63, b. f., by Malibu Moon—Prall Street, by Cherokee Run, Property of Graves & Lynch, James M. Herbener Jr., agent.
This filly is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed stakes winner Rattlesnake Bridge, who was bred on a similar A.P. Indy sire line. Her dam, the winning Malibu Moon mare Prall Street, is a producer of three winners from four foals to race. Bred in Kentucky by William Graves and Dennis Lynch, the filly is from the family of Grade 1 winner True Knight and Grade 2 winner Rigamajig.

Hip No. 68, gr. or ro. f., by Uncle Mo—Horns Gray, by Pass the Tab, consigned by VanMeter Sales, agent.
Seven-time stakes winner Horns Gray has been a successful broodmare, with eight winners from 10 runners, including Grade 1 winner Awesome Humor and stakes winner Dignified Donovan. Further bolstering the dam’s résumé is her success producing broodmares. Awesome Humor is the dam of stakes-placed Keep Me Informed, while the winning Ocean Crest mare Surf Club has produced Grade 1 winner Emcee, stakes winner Spring Party, Group 2-placed Surfer, and Grade 3-placed Baffled, who is the dam of this year’s Florida Derby winner Constitution. Bred in Kentucky by the partnership of T.F. VanMeter, Gaines-Gentry Thoroughbreds, and Dearborn Stables, this filly is from the first crop of sire Uncle Mo, and hails from the family of Grade 1 winner All Fired Up.

Hip No. 75, b. f., by War Front—Santa Catarina, by Unbridled, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
Popular commercial sire War Front is on the top, while Grade 2 winner and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Santa Catarina, who brought $950,000 as a yearling and $4.8 million as a broodmare, is on the bottom. Santa Catarina is the dam of one winner from three foals to race. That winner, the Irish-bred Asbeautifulasyou, is a stakes producer. Bred in Kentucky by Eaton Sales, the filly has a wide-ranging international dam’s side pedigree, with standouts including Canadian champion Negligee and English Horse of the Year Zilzal.

Hip No. 80, b. f., by Gio Ponti—Shandra Smiles, by Cahill Road, consigned by Warrendale Sales, agent.
Storm Cat-line sires have crossed well with the stakes-winning Cahill Road mare Shandra Smiles. A mating with Hold That Tiger produced three-time Grade 1 winner Smiling Tiger, while a cross with Tale of the Cat, sire of Gio Ponti, produced recently retired champion She’s a Tiger. Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Rodney Orr, this filly is from Gio Ponti’s debut crop as a sire.

Hip No. 81, gr. or ro. f., by Tapit—She Be Wild, by Offlee Wild, consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.
This is the second foal out of the Offlee Wild mare She Be Wild, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2009. Her first foal, Shebealittlewild, is also a Tapit filly. Bred in Kentucky by Mike and Nancy Mazzoni, the filly comes from the family of Canadian turf champion Portcullis and Grade 1 winner Carson Hollow.

Hip No. 94, ch. c., by Unbridled’s Song—Starinthemeadow, by Meadowlake, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
This colt by late sire Unbridled’s Song is a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Weemissfrankie and Grade 2-placed Stop Smiling. He is out of the unraced Meadowlake mare Starinthemeadow, whose produce includes six winners from seven foals to race. Bred in Kentucky by Diamond A Racing Corp., the colt is from the family of Grade 1 winner Stormy Pick.

Hip No. 112, b. c., by Bernardini—Tweeter, by Unbridled’s Song, consigned by Gainesway, agent.
This colt is out of the winning Unbridled’s Song mare Tweeter, who is a half-sister to champion Bird Town and Belmont Stakes winner and sire Birdstone. Bred in Kentucky by Marylou Whitney Stables, this colt is one of the latest extensions in the family of second dam Dear Birdie, whose 13 foals to race were all winners, including three additional graded stakes producers as dams or grandams. Tweeter was bred on a similar Unbridled-line cross as Birdstone, who made a quick impact at stud, siring classic winners Mine That Bird and Summer Bird.

Hip No. 150, b. f., by War Front—Charming, by Seeking the Gold, consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.
This filly’s page features two of the most coveted names in the current commercial market in sire War Front and Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady, who is the yearling’s second dam. Charming, a $3.2-million yearling in her own right, is the dam of two winners from as many foals to race, including the recently Grade 3-placed Take Charge Brandi. Bred in Kentucky by the Charming Syndicate, this filly is from the family of champion Will Take Charge, Grade 1 winner Take Charge Indy, and Grade 2 winner Straight Story.

Just saw Hip #69 leave the floor under gavel for $1,000,000. This grey specimen was a perfect actor in the ring and gave a very nice presence. Bidding seemed very fast in increments of $100K until the $800,000 price tag when things slowed - seemed that two bidders remained going to $875,000, then $900,000 and change, and finally settling on the million mark.

Hip #75 brought $600,000 at the gavel - the podium seemed disappointed at the result as there were two "bids" clocked at $625,000 and $650,000 which were taken down from the board.

Glenye's 2nd night Hips..

Hip No. 94—From the next-to-least crop of influential sire Unbridled's Song, this colt is a half brother to two-time grade I winner Weemissfrankie and to graded-placed winner Stop Smiling. Taylor Made Sales agency consigns the colt, whose family also features such standouts as grade I winner Stormy Pick and $301,145-earning stakes winner Why Not Be Perfect.

Hip No. 112—Gainesway agency's Bernardini colt is out of Tweeter, a winning Unbridled's Song mare. The dam is a three-quarters sister to 2004 Belmont (gr. I) and Travers (gr. I) winner Birdstone and a half sister to 2003 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner and 3-year-old filly champion Bird Town. The colt was bred by Saratoga's grande dame, Marylou Whitney.

Hip No. 116—This New York-bred son of Lemon Drop Kid is out of the Catienus mare Unspoken Word, who earned $369,748 and was a grade I-placed stakes winner; she's also a half sister to another grade I-placed runner, Emotional Kitten. This is the family of stakes winners Cannonball and Musical Flair, among others. Sequel Stallions New York consigns.

Hip No. 121—Taylor Made Sales consigns the Medaglia d'Oro filly out of Weekend Whim, by Distorted Humor . The dam is a full sister to grade I-winning millionaire and sire Any Given Saturday and already has produced a stakes-placed winner in Coconut Shrimp. That Giant's Causeway filly is now four. This filly's full brother, Golden Monday, brought $600,000 at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale when selling to Japan's J. S. Co.

Hip No. 148—This Speightstown filly is out of the unraced Storm Cat mare Celebrity Cat, but her family is rich in black type. Celebrity Cat is out of the Dynaformer matron Starrer, a two-time grade I winner and millionaire who also is a half sister to three-time grade I winner Stellar Jayne. The Eaton Sales agency is the consignor.

Hip No.150—One of just two War Front yearlings on offer, this filly is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Charming, and her second dam is the excellent racemare and producer Take Charge Lady, dam of last year's champion 3-year-old male Will Take Charge and grade I winner Take Charge Indy . The catalog page looks even better now, as her 2-year-old half sister, the Giant's Causeway filly Take Charge Brandi, finished second in Saratoga's Schuylerville (gr. III) July 18. She's offered by the Eaton Sales agency.

Hip No. 163—A daughter of 2010 champion 2-year-old male and first-crop sire Uncle Mo , this dark bay or brown filly sold to Bare Stables for $190,000 as a Keeneland November weanling last year. She is a half sister to stakes-placed Jasmine's Melody and to recent winner Provenance. The Hill 'n' Dale Sales agency consigns her. She's out of the Unbridled's Song mare Erica's Melody, a half sister to stakes winners Reno Rumble and Beg Borrow N Steal, the latter also a stakes-producer.
