Since Timm mentioned Hersh, I found this article to be of interest. Scroll down. It shows his credibility.
Aslo, since Pope B has spent some time in Turkey, you might find this article of interest. War on drugs? http://www.gnn.tv/articles/2775/The_...of_a_NationWar on terror?
Please, Baba, take some time to become better informed before you come at me with your childish insults. OK?
DTS: you brought up Hersh in the Peoplesvoice link, and his name being mentioned in another link hardly represents cementing Hershs' credibility! The Dems won't fund any intelligence, methinks. Obviously, they're putting the moral imperative on the backburner til it suits them, and then start the pompous vilification of all things Republican in the Spring.

Look, the Dems didn't run anything. They ran on "we aren't the other guys".
It worked because of how unpopular the repubs are due to the war.
The problem they have is that they seem completely unable to even get along with each other and set an agenda, much less stick to one.

I think many Dens underestimate how narrow their wins were as well. The approval rating of the President was so low, and diapproval for the war very high. Despite this, the key senate wins and house wins were by very small margins. The Dems have never accpeted responsibility for their many losses in both congressional and presidential elections. It was always " they cheated", "they counted the votes wrong" that they blamed. They just couldn't accept the fact that your average American wants nothing to with liberal stances. So who do they make majority leader? Pelosi!!!! LOL!!!
They just don't get it. They seem to be unwilling to make a move to the middle, and the parties leaders are still hard left.
That election was not a mandate. They can't just sit in office and do nothing for two years and expect to keep the majority. Yet I think thats exactly their plan.
The "plan" seems to center around doing as little as possible for two years and just trying to keep control of congress in '08. Stall on anything controversial, and smile.
Its not gonna work. I don't think the last election was a vote on Repubs/Dems. It was a vote on the war and Bush. Bush won't be running in '08 and his weight won't drag anyone down.
In addition, the new lows set by Dems in campaign tactics were surprising to even hardened and grizzled veterans of politics. They reached for as much dirt as they could find on opposing candidates, and told tales that were not only untruthful, but in some cases outright lies.
Now that they have lowered the standards of just how low you can go in campaigning, expect the Repubs to come out swinging with just as much dirt on Dems in the next election.
This congressional control has two years written all over it.

In our district a very popular incumbent was unseated because with one week left someone illegally leaked a 911 report to the media. The report was portrayed as making him a wife beater type.
Word has now gotten out that in fact the reason no charges were filed due to the incident was not because of who he was, but because he in fact did absolutely nothing wrong.
The police officer who supposedly leaked the report has already been demoted, and the incident is being investigated.
People around here already feel duped by that leak, and realize that they have been had.
If they held the election today, he'd blow her away.
Thats what the Dems had to resort to in order to win.
I wouldn't wanna be a sitting Dem with any skeletons in my closet in two years. Once you establish just how low, low is, you have to expect the other side to strike back with a vengeance.

Go to www.timesunion.com and when the site loads type in Sweeney under the search area.
Its the Albany, newspaper.
Or go to www.saratogian.com and type in the same thing.

Just remember that, while politics has gotten ridiculously ugly, that certainly no single party has a monopoly on untrue and outright false advertising.

There are Republican laundry lists of it from just this past election.

I'm not saying the Dems are innocent in this regard, but they certainly aren't the bad guys when it comes to false campaign advertising.
