Dave, Baffert is as good as anyone with first time starters. I think the 4 is over bet on the board right now after failing to get the job done for a lower tag.

The pace figures have the 6 with an easy lead, but of course don't take into account the first time starters and Baffert's horse certainly can show speed. Keep in mind that at SA this meet in 5 1/2f dirt races the winner has been no worse than in 3rd at the 1/4 pole. I am going to bet the 6 to win and use Baffert's horse a bit with him (though a little cold on the board for a Baffert). Hope that is helpful.

SA 3

$20W 6
$5EXB 2,6

Bel 8

I don't get Byrama, 7f a little short for him. The 8 could surprise at a price and the 5 offers good value here.

$20W 8
$10DD 5,8/5,8

Thanks I wound up using 7,6 ex. I cannot believe the 6 did not hang on.

Sorry, Dave. The 6 had no excuse for folding like a tent like that. Coming off the turn I thought he might run off but just had nothing in the tank for the drive.

5 1/2's have been great betting races at SA, if you can figure out who is going to be 1,2 or 3 by the 1/4 pole you can narrow down the winner to one of those three.
