Who are you referring to? The owners of Declan are huge owners. They are hardly little guys. They've probably spent about $20 million on horses the last 10 years.

think she is probably just talking about a MD bred gelding as being a little guy.

owners and obviously the trainer are big time players.

one of my favorite horses in training.
6f seems a little short, but whatever.
Ellis knows what he is doing.

I don't know about little. In peak condition, Declan's Moon had muscles most horses only dream of having.

I would describe him as more of a tall and lean horse. He's very tall.

Is he tall? I was in fact saying I root for the "little guys" for the same reason as merasmag stated. He looked both lean and average to smallish in height to me with the heart the size of the State of California. As a two year old Declan was just divine to me, he was racy and reminded me of the race horses in old oil paintings. I hope he stands and poises in the Winner's Circle again soon, I always got a kick out of that...he thought he was the man!

How big was Roman Ruler than?

RR was a big boy. He was a lot bigger than DM and i think that was especially so when they ran against each other as 2 year olds in the Del Mar Futurity.

But DM always had some size to him. Even as a yearling, he had some size. They bought him as a gelded yearling for $125,000. Malibu Moon was only standing for about $10,000 at the time. Nobody would have paid $125,000 for a gelded yearling by Malibu Moon unless he was a pretty big, good looking guy, which DM was.

DM is doing really well right now. I saw him last week and he looked really good. I expect a big effort from him on Saturday.
