Not to mention these folks...

Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome is not just the pride and joy of California but of the horse division of Harris Farms in Coalinga, where the son of Lucky Pulpit was born and raised and where his sire stands.

According to Dave McGlothlin, the farm’s general manager, Lucky Pulpit’s popularity skyrocketed this year after California Chrome’s emergence as a leading contender for the Kentucky Derby.

On Saturday, the farm staff took some time off to watch Lucky Pulpit’s most famous offspring make a successful Run for the Roses, becoming the first California-bred since Decidedly in 1962 to win. Someone had the foresight to videotape the horse division crew watching the Derby telecast and California Chrome’s thrilling victory. McGlothlin (with mustache, standing on the left side of the group) is among the celebrants.

I am so rooting for California Chrome to win both the Preakness and Belmont - like many of us here.

Great horse, great connections, great story, great for racing.

Go CHROME!!!

That was so awesome! That's what it's all about, especially for those who actually love the horse for who he is, and always will .
