Bold Forbes. I thought his spring and Triple Crown series was truly underrated.
He will always have THE special place in my heart.

First Derby horse I remember betting on was Nobiz Like Showbiz. I was working weekends for Smarty's and remember timing my break that day so I could sneak into an empty conference room and watch it. Watched Barbaro's and Giacomo's at home but wasn't betting til 2007.

Charismatic.....was purely a hunch play. Since that day I have been anointed a horse racing expert by my friends and colleagues.

I can't believe no one has said Riva Ridge. He was a superstar. how he ever lost to BeeBeeBee in the preakness boggled the mind of a little kid like me. I was hooked though. Hosses were like heroes back then to me. the 70's hosses and music were the best there ever was. Nothing has changed. Secretariat, Foolish pleasure, Affirmed, Slew, the Bid...These were household names.

and the ensuing controversy over the jersey derby. what a wake up call that was to the powers behind the triple crown races!
